I spent the last week researching various low-commission online brokers. I knew the pros and cons and had a good idea what I was getting into. I had pretty much decided to sign up for a Zecco.com account this morning. Ten free online stock trades each month is pretty enticing.
Then I went to the website (again) and it was still broken (the formatting was all off, things were not displayed properly). It had annoyed me over the past week. Then, I asked myself, “Do I really want to invest tens of thousands of dollars with a company that can’t even make their website compliant with Safari?” Next I thought, “If I see this broken formatting on the front page, what sort of important functionality is broken deeper in the site?”
Yes, it is challenging to make websites that are cross-platform compliant, but it is quite possible. People do it every day and many companies have websites that are. My guess is that most companies that pay to advertise on TV and the web (which Zecco.com does), have complaint websites. In this day and age, it should be expected. It makes me think that zecco.com is being run on a platform designed by hacks. I mean, if they can’t even make a Safari and iPhone compliant website…..? Since they are an online business, it makes me wonder about the quality of everything they do. I’m sure the company has some justification for why their site is broken in Safari and won’t display on the iPhone. Whatever it is, I’d sure like to hear it. Either way, Zecco’s lack of support for Safari and the iPhone is a choice that probably says a lot about how their business is run.

Thanks for checking out Zecco. I definitely hear you about the Safari/iPhone compliance - as a mac user, I feel your pain.
We are working on Safari compatibility, but currently do not support it simply because not enough people use it, and because mac users have easy alternatives like Firefox. Not a great reason, but we’re working on a ton of other features that benefit more people.
Stay tuned…
