My Biggest Complaint About www.shoepeddlers.com: The Shoe Peddlers

I order a lot of stuff online. Typically I am pleased with the results. It’s simple, go to the website, order, pay, receive product in 7-10 days, happy feelings overwhelm me when I see the box on my door step when I arrive home from work.

Let me warn everyone that you will not experience the same sense of satisfaction and warm fuzzy feelings if you order shoes from www.shoepeddlers.com (shoe peddlers). I ordered a pair of shoes from this company on April 19th and have not yet received them two months later.

I began my frustrating and ongoing email dialogue with this company on April 25th when they sent me an email explaining that the item was on back order until May 3rd at which point it was going to be shipped. Although at this point I was slightly dissappointed I understood and accepted this scenario. During the course of the past two months I have emailed the company 10 times and called them more times than I can possibly count. Every time I call I have to leave a message on their voicemail and my call is never returned. I have actually only had one real conversation with anyone from the company. Their explanation that the were being shipped from Germany satisfied me for the first 6 weeks of my shoepeddlers.com adventure but now I find that I am in a verbal war with this company over email and voice messages, only I am the only one with diaglogue.

In summary, never order from this company because you will never get your shoes or a response!

  1. Princess Leia,

It sounds like this shoepeddlers isn’t really a serious on-line business. I would bet it is an internet storefront for a corner shoe store, or some mom and pop trying to sell shoes they get on the cheap. Their website has some sections that are shadey, and clearly their business practices are too. Thanks for the review of them and warning the rest of us.

  2. I had a similar issue - . ShoePedders (Vagabond Shoes Inc.) issue is that they don’t update inventory online so you order shoes that aren’t even available. The manufacturers are overseas so you have to wait for them. When I did get in touch with customer service, they were very nice. They definitely need to reconsider how they run their business. They offer no phone contact information either, but here’s a number I found just in case you are in this situation too: Kathy is the Principal: 920-498-2429

  3. Wish I’d read your reviews before I placed an order last week. I ordered some shoes two weeks in advance of a trip I’m taking. I paid extra for 2-day shipping to insure that I would have them in time for the trip. Now, time is quickly running out and I can’t get in touch with anyone. Thanks so much for the phone number. I’ll try that but am not expecting much satisfaction.

    Future buyers beware!
Try zappos or onlineshoes.com instead. They are great!!

  4. I also wish I had read these comments before purchasing some shoes. We purchased some two weeks ago and still have not heard back from the company. Anyone reading this should avoid buying from shoepeddlers.com

  5. Had same problem with Lord John’s footwear. I believe they now call themselves My Shoe Store. Had to call Better Business Bureau to get them to credit me for shoes that they charged me for but never shipped. Turned out they never had them in stock. Be careful of companies that charge you before they ship the product.

  6. We are yet another victim of Shoe Peddlers’ bad business policy. We are only on Day 8, and Email 2 of “the wait,” but we’ve given up already.

Next stop, I’m checking my credit card site — if they’ve charged my card, I’m contesting the charges. “No services rendered.”

    Cheers from Portland!

  7. I ordered two pair of shoes. One arrived within 7-10 days; the other I waited for three weeks and never a communication from Shoe Peddlers about expected arrival. They need to let customers know at the TIME THE ORDER IS PLACED what the time of shipping will be. While they respond promptly to emails and are very pleasant, this is no way to run a business. Too bad for them. They could have a really good thing going.

  8. Terrible experience. They won’t refund my money. Never got the shoes. They SUCK!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO BUY EVEN A PAIR OF SHOE LACES!

  9. Hi there. Sorry about your bad experiences. I have bought two pairs of shoes from shoepeddlers.com and have never been more satisfied. I think they are very serious and reliable sellers and will definitely continue buying shoes at their web-site.

  10. This is the worst online store I have ever done business with. I, too, wish I’d read about SP before buying my shoes–it’s been three weeks, and not so much as a response. Unbelievable.

  11. I ordered some shoes online on 10th November ‘07 and paid by VISA the same day. After 2 months and over a dozen e-mails I have nothing.

I have threatened legal action, I have contacted the FBI and the local police now. I still have heard nothing! These people are either unbelievably stupid or just brazen criminals. Either way they should be avoided like the plague. They are absolutely the worst online retailer I have ever come across.

  12. I can only echo the comments that this is the worst company to do business with. I have been fighting with them to get a refund for a defective shoe they sent to me for 6 months and have yet to get another pair of shoes for a return. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

  13. I just looked into the BBB listing for them. Not surprised to see Unsatisfactory. 33 complaints posted to the BBB in 36 months!! I was going to order a pair of discontinued shoes from them, started poking around the website and decided to check it out online before I went any further. Glad I did. From the sounds of it- they likely didn’t have my shoes anyway. How can a shop stay in business with their rep? And yes, it appears they have a small store in Wisconsin.

  14. I ordered and got the item alright, but it seems they have taken my return item into limbo! Despite confirmation of delivery of the returned item, and over a dozen e-mails, they have not issues a refund, made a statement of intent to refund, or even acknowledged the return. I filed a complaint with the BBB. Do not buy here!

  15. I have the same problem as Ravenmoon - I ordered and got the item okay, but getting any info on my return is impossible. Despite confirmation of delivery of the returned item they have not issued a refund or even acknowledged the return was received, even after I emailed them. I think I’ll try calling the number you all listed and NEVER buy from them again.

  16. Ordered shoes in Nov 2007- got them, but it turned out I need one size larger shoes. So, I followed the instructions for return and we agreed via e-mail tha they will exchange the shoes for a bigger size. I never got the larger size. I sent many e-mails and as recently as early Feb 2008 they answered once to say that they are processing the order, but I have not gotten anything yet. I wrote more e-mails to ask eitehr for the shoes, or a refund - nothing so far. Fom the other entries, it seems that one cannot win on that …

  17. 3-3-08…
I have also received terrible service from this Kathleen Kelnhofer.
But, I have not yet received shoes ordered laste January with expectation of approx. 20 day delivery.
Email reply to requests on my order have been almost nonexistent.
Here is more possible contact information to contact by phone.
She has another company name listed/available, thanks to the internet. (I don’t know how old it is though)

  18. I also had a very bad experience. They shipped late, charged my credit card for the full amount after an “in-store credit” was suppose to be applied and never returned my e-mails. I finally got results after I contacted VISA and had them look into it. That seemed to shake them up and after a few more e-mails, with the help of VISA, I got my money back. My advice….report them!!!

  19. I placed an order with ShoePeddlers on Monday, March 10 and recieved confirmation of “your order is being processed” on March 12. As of Friday, I had recieved no e-mail stating that my order had been shipped. Thanks to this site, I phoned 920-434-6292 and got in contact with Kathy. I asked her to look up my order number and cancel my order, as I had not recieved any information on it. (I had checked, and there was no charge on my VISA.) She could give me no confirmation #, but agreed to send me an e-mail immediately stating that the order had been cancelled. I recieved the e-mail in my inbox within minutes.
If you aren’t getting your shoes, I suggest taking this tact. SAVED!!!!

  20. Ah, caveat emptor. Sucked in by the prospect of deals on my favourite brands, I dove in without checking out the company. Add my name to the list of unhappy customers. I called the phone number 920-434-6292 — no answer, no answering machine. Found half-baked replies to my emails in the “my account” section. Also discovered one of my orders wasn’t even listed there. Spoke with American Express to see what charges had gone through on my account. An interesting find of debits and credits! Thankfully American Express will contest all transactions if the vendor doesn’t cough up the goods within 30 days. My money will be refunded ($500!!) and Shoepeddlers will have Amex to deal with. Cold comfort. I want my shoes!

  21. Low and behold…I got 3 of the 5 pairs of shoes I ordered!
This came as a complete surprise. One of them was supposedly
no longer in stock. The other pair never confirmed as processing or shipped! I have one pair outstanding, still no answer as to their status after 3 emails. The order doesn’t show in “my account” at the site. They respond haphazardly to emails, provide vague replies. I can’t say its been a happy experience. Too bad. They looked like a promising shoe dealer, offering all my favourite brands. Wish they’d update their website. They’re still offering the brands and sizes shoes I was informed were discontinued/sold out/or out of your size. I learned a HUGE lesson here. Always do your research!

  22. It’s pretty obvious that there are many posts by the same person on this website using different names (check the spelling errors). It is also very apparent that some of you (or maybe it’s really just one of you) are not all there. I’ve seen posts about contacting the FBI and local police departments?? You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been ordering from shoepeddlers for two years now and had nothing but great service. Complaint sites like this are quite entertaining, because there is no editor and nobody to check facts. This is most likely one disgruntled person making many posts. Get over yourself and move on with your life.

  23. “It’s pretty obvious that there are many posts by the same person on this website using different names (check the spelling errors).”

    Sorry Shoesy.

Not sure that an occasional similarity in misspelled words means that the same person is using different names and making all these posts.

Glad you’ve had a good experience with shoepeddlers.com. It sounds like you may be the exception to the rule. If you think this is a problem, why don’t you drop the editors a note.

The most likely explanation for the excessive amounts of poor reviews of Shoe Peddlers is the company’s business practices and not a vendetta by the “same person.”

  24. I’ve finally concluded business with ShoePeddlers. They emailed
me yesterday afternoon to advise me the status of the remaining
pair of shoes. Discontinued/not in stock.

I continue to have hope ShoePeddlers will get it together. Simple tasks such as keeping inventory current on their web page and prompt replies to emails will begin the construction of a good reputation and is the mortar required in repairing a damaged one.

I’m thrilled Shoesy has had great experiences with ShoePeddlers.
I’m willing to give them another chance if they improve. They certainly know about this web page; I informed them of the reviews here.

    Best,
    Heather

  25. I have to agree, I one lone person isn’t making all these comments.. I happen to have posted the BBB info above because I checked out the store before I was going to place my order. So, while I directly have not had bad experiences- I can assure you many people have based on the BBB reports filed. You can’t dispute that, and I’m sure one person did not make all those reports to the BBB under false names to disparage a company. If you check, I’m pretty sure the negative BBB numbers have likely went up for this company- so, sorry Shoesy- your theory doesn’t work.

  26. Yep, they now have 4 more complaints against them. Any company that has this many unsatisfied customers that needed to get the BBB involved really needs to re-think why they are in business..

The BBB processed a total of 37 complaints about this company in the last 36 months, our standard reporting period.Of the total of 37 complaints closed in 36 months, 12 were closed in the last year

  27. If you think the BBB is an accurate representation of a business, then I can tell you have never ran your own business. The BBB is a clearinghouse of complaints that are usually never verified and most often unwarranted….very similar to this website.

  28. Nope, never ran my own business- however the companies I’ve worked for ranged from retail jewelry to a large audio visual company, and they all have gotten those BBB complaint free certificates years running. If you have a retail store and 37 plus complaints against you in a reporting period, there is something wrong.. period.

  29. “If you have a retail store and 37 plus complaints against you in a reporting period, there is something wrong.. period”

They’ve been in business for quite a while, so apparenly not.

  30. “customers that needed to get the BBB involved really needs to re-think why they are in business.. ”

You can get the BBB involved if you think an employee looked at you wrong…it’s not that hard and it’s not that affective.

  31. I do believe most people would not go to the trouble of filing a complaint with the BBB for someone “looking at them wrong,” or even for minor business irks. The BBB is an organization that does contact both the customer and the vendor and does either “close” the complaint or note it was unable to reach agreement of some acceptable comprimise. They are not a “clearinghouse” for complaints like this board. I do realize you have a bone to pick because of something, but a reality check is a reality check. Being in business a number of years doesn’t mean you take care of your customers or your reputation. Based on the size of the business and the type (they are a shoe store, not a general contractor) they have a unacceptably large amount of complaints. Your reponses are obviously based on the need to be argumentative. I am posting only what is available for anyone to look up on their own.

  32. “Being in business a number of years doesn’t mean you take care of your customers or your reputation.”

Now we know you’ve never owned your own business.

  33. I thought I was done. ShoePeddlers has sent me another pair
of the same shoes they shipped me last week. Sigh.

  34. Heather,

I guess getting two pairs of Shoes is better than none at all. Now you’re gonna have a fun time trying to get that straight with them.

  35. Mr Squeaky, how right you are!
    3 phone calls/messages
    1 email

    No response…

    I don’t get them…they could have a grand business.
I’m almost afraid to send the shoes back — it would be
like sending them money in the mail.

This must be God’s way of breaking my Imelda Marcos-sized
    shoe addiction…

    Heather :-)

  36. I can assure you that the people posting here are telling the truth. I found Shoe Peddlers online and was thrilled that the shoes I was looking for were in stock and, as a regular internet shopper, I promptly ordered 2 pair and was happy when the email confirmation came back that the order was in process. As I was leaving for a trip the next week I also ordered special 2-day delivery via UPS. And waited.

After enquiring as to the status of my order and receiving no response and having my departure date approaching, I “googled” Shoe Peddlers which is a good lesson. I should have done this first.

I found this forum and thank goodness, someone had posted Kathleen’s information. So I called the number and spoke to Kathleen, who gave me another number but the woman I was supposed to speak with was not working (back Monday). Back and forth. Back and forth.

This was the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. Somehow, they have several people “working” on the phone, but no one seems in charge of anything. Clearly, this is a small operation trying to operate on a large-scale but it is not working. Furthermore, they promise things that they never are able to deliver. I wrote at least 20 emails (3 of which were responded to with incorrect information), only to figure out that the 2-day delivery was never going to happen; the 1st pair of shoes came 4 weeks late; the 2nd pair of shoes (despite confirmation email) was out of stock but that did not stop them charging my credit card first (which Kathleen promised wouldn’t happen).

If anyone can suggest other ways to post complaints, better business bureau, etc. I would be more than happy to write more and document this in great detail.

    Horrible service.

I hope that they read this and realize you cannot run a business this way.

Also, a reminder to me (and maybe you too?) Not all online vendors are reputable and it pays to do due-dilligence before typing in your credit card.

  37. I’m afraid I am another person to add to this list. 1st they told my shoes were in stock & shipped, 2 weeks later after still no boots I emailed looking for a tracking number and was informed they would look into it. One week after that they emailed stating they were just shipped. When I did receive my items they were not true to size & did not fit. I returned them in the original box, with the return label from their website, insured & w/delivery confirmation. I week later I emailed inquiring about my refund & was then told it “would be finalized by the end of the week”
That was more than 2 weeks ago… no refund
I have reported them to the BBB after I felt I exhausted my other options

  38. I filed the original complaint on this company. As a follow up to my original experience with the Shoepeddlers.com, after more than two months of calling and not receiving my shoes I decided that I no longer wanted them.

My quest to get in touch with an actual person at the company became a game. It literally got to the point where I called them every day for a week. I would leave a message stating that I would like to cancel my order because after two months it had not been fulfilled and that I wanted to see how many days in a row I could call without getting a response from them. In addition to the phone calls I would also send emails that received no response as well. The phone calls and emails were actually very nice and matter of fact in nature without any tone of threat.

One day I could not stand it any longer. I called my friend who conveniently happens to be a lawyer and told him the saga. He called the company stating that his client would like to cancel the order and to please call him to verify that they would do so. I kid you not, within 15 minutes someone from the company called him back to cancel my order and that was finally the end of my shoepeddlers.com experience. So if you’d like to constantly be ignored about the status of your order, never receive your order, and have to get a lawyer involved to cancel your never fulfilled order, shoepeddlers.com is the company for you!

  39. I am a busy man and I know my sizes. So, I order a lot of stuff online. Shoepeddlers.com is the absolute worst experience that I have ever had with ordering items online. The WORST. I hope people that are reading this take my advice and avoid shoepeddlers.com at all cost. I know I am.

  40. I have to say that this is a wake up call to me. I have never had to research a company on line until I ordered from shoepeddlers. I thought if the brand’s website listed them as an on-line vender I would be okay. . . Boy was I wrong. I started my transaction in Feb. 2008 and I am still trying to resolve the situation. I wish I would have read this first. I had a size problem as well. I own 4 pair of shoes from this brand so I know my size, but from this company that didn’t seem to matter and now I’m out $100 and I don’t have my shoes. I have reported my problems to the shoe brand in hopes that they will no longer supply this company. My next step will be to contact my credit card company.

  41. I have nothing but high marks for Shoe Peddlers…they followed up with phone calls and emails and I got exactly what I ordered. Shipping was fast and free…ordered on Friday, package arrived the next Thursday. No issues.

  42. I think this is a FABULOUS store. I’ve actually been in their stores and also ordered several times on-line. Free Shipping. Fast Service. No problems.

  43. I’m so glad I found this site. I was beginning to think I was going crazy. I have ordered from this company three times (some of us are really stupid)! The first time, I ordered three pairs of shoes. I did eventually get one pair. It didn’t fit, but I couldn’t return them for money back (just store credit) because they were a “clearance” item. So, I kept them- it wasn’t worth the hassle to go through the process (which should have been my first warning). The second time I ordered, they had nothing in stock, so I was saved. The third (AND LAST) time I ordered from this company, one pair of Keens was “backordered.” The other pair of Keens was supposedly available, but I never heard anything about the status of my order (even though I paid for 2 day express shipping). After numerous emails and calls, low and behold, the one pair of shoes show up today. I’m still trying to cancel the backordered shoes, so I don’t know what is going to happen there. Granted, the shoes that did finally show up are the wrong color, but I don’t dare return them after hearing about all of you guys’ complaints! I have to thank this site- and in my email- I did comment to Kathleen that “I know you have numerous complaints on your company” and that seemed to do the trick. Honestly, I am not sure if Shoepeddlers bad service is intentional. Maybe they just need to get their acts together. I’m still undecided, but I have learned my lesson. If any of you are still having problems, all I can recommend (like the others) is to file a complaint online with WI’s BBB. Also, just keep at it- keep calling and leaving voicemails. It seems like Kathleen will respond to voicemails (via email) more promptly as opposed to when you just email her. Good luck to the rest of you!
And to Shoepeddlers- please get a new IT person- or whoever designs and maintains your web site. Your web page advertises shoes (sizes, styles and colors) that you do not have in stock. It’s misleading!

  44. Well, here in August 2008, I spent a week ordering 9 pairs of socks (SmartWool) from Shoe Peddlers in Green Bay, Wisconsin, although I have been able to quickly reach sales staff on 2 different numbers:

    920-882-3988 / 920-882-3986
    920-498-2429

Yes, they are operating out of brick and mortar, and many of the items on their Web site are not in stock. I revised my order about 6 times to accommodate what they had in stock and/or could get.

The invoice was revised several times: first they billed a portion of the authorized amount (credit card), then the rest of it, and then requested additional (I ordered 9 pairs in the end, initially had ordered 7 pairs).

So, now the whole mess should be on its way to New York, but I won’t know for another week or so… if I don’t have socks by the end of August, I will file with PayPal for non-performance, get refunded.

Oh, well. It took me days to understand the sock terminology, sizing, etc., so when I finally placed my ordered, I was very disappointed to have to run around and play phone tag for a week to finally come up with an assortment of socks.

I do know of stores where I can walk in and grab this same assortment for the same price.

  45. Yes, they are also Fox Valley Birkenstock. I have received mail from both companies.

My friend has bought 3 pairs of shoes from them, received them quickly, and paid less duty and taxes into Canada than she did at another Birkenstock place.

  46. My order is not that long but doubt I will get my shoes. Two weeks today and no way does it take that long for UPS ground. I emailed twice and called once and no response. I wanted the shoes for a trip this week so have ordered and had to pay expedited shipping to get them on time from onlineshoes.com.

I paid by PayPal and have contacted them.

  47. I also have found this company to be very unhelpful, I placed an order early July 2008 and the item was in stock, my visa was billed .Then mid August contacted Fox Valley Birkenstock to see if the shoes were on there way and I was told they did not have my order and that the item was not in stock, I found this odd but advised the Company the order number they fist Poor jobgave me and asked them to please check their records. Six emails and nothing back from them plus I went online to see if the item now reads out of stock and yes you guessed it available!

  48. I WISH I had read this first. Yes, Shoepeddlers is Vagabond Shoes in Green Bay and Appleton, WI. The funniest part is I live in Appleton! I could have driven to the store and saved $25.00! By the time they subtract clearance shoe charges, restocking charges, shipping charges and my cost to return the ugliest shoes I ever saw, that’s what it cost me!!! I took my small store credit that was left to the Appleton store and searched to find something I liked - with not much help from the teenage clerk. I will never go back. Did not reply to emails or phone calls. And yes, the owners are sitting in the back of this little store

  49. Wow, I thought the delay was getting a bit long and emailed, then emailed again.. then called- same stuff. No one there that could help, call back another day. No response to my emails. After 3 weeks I called my credit card and had them do a charge back because I thought I’d been ripped off after I found the BBB report on them. I hope they see this and close up shop, they are scammers!!!
Good luck getting the owner on the phone. Here’s her number-

  50. I have been surfing for a certain Dansko style for my neice. They are very hard to find. I finally found a pair at Shoe Peddlers site and had filled everything out but did not place the order. I was checking out other sites and came upon this complaint section and very glad I did. I went back to Shoe Peddlers site and deleted the order I hadn’t placed. Still looking else where. Thanks for this complaint section.

  51. I almost ordered a pair of Birkenstock this morning, a pair advertised 20% cheaper than compatible businesses online………boy am I glad I came upon your comment site before I ordered. I will gladly pay the higher price for merchandise I have a chance of actually receiving!!

  52. I ordered 2 pair of Dansko “folly” from shoepeddlers.com.
I received them but yet in a long wait. I teach school and am on my feet all day as well as floating from first floor to third floor for my classes. I have worn dansko in the past and always found them quite serviceable and comfortable. When I wore the black pair only 1 time they rubbed a blister on my heel and being a diabetic, I have to watch these things carefully. I returned the shoes along with a green pair which I never even wore. The shoes were returned with a letter stating that both pair of shoes had been worn and could not be returned. Well, there was no statement about this when I purchased them and I was really upset that I was told I had worn a pair of shoes when I know full well that I had not worn them at all. They, both of pair of shoes, are exactly like they were when I received them from shoepeddlers. com. I am so disgusted with this company. Now, when I went back on their website, I see that they do not even carry Dansko shoes anymore. If they do not want to credit me for the black pair that I wore only 1 time, they could at least do the right thing and credit me for the green pair that I never ever wore even though I received a letter from Kathleen Kelnhofer telling me that she could not accept the shoes since both had been worn. Evidently, she did not look at the shoes when she sent them to me because they are exactly the same as I received them from her.
    Thank you.

  53. Wow! This was a fun read! I’m fighting the lack of customer service thing as well. My shoes came promptly, however, did not match the photo of the item online. I have left two emails and called and left a message on their old-school answering machine, with no return contact attempted. Urrr.

I was very amused at the drama with shoesy earlier in this stream, and laugh at the blatant obviousness that shoesy is the owner of this company, changing HER name, trying to save face. (or possibly just someone in connection with her in some way; sister, friend, etc) Why would some random satisfied customer be so disrespectful and catty towards real people and so blatantly deny the possibility that these claims could have some truth? Well, dear Kathleen, if you REALLY want to save face, take some advice from your company’s street name (integrity way) and get some. How about run a business, not a scam. If you can’t do the job right, then you have no business in your business! Get organized and get some respect for the people who pay your bills. We don’t need you, YOU NEED US.

  54. This is just one huge scam. I ordered a pair of shoes on 8/16 which I wanted for vacation on 9/8. 2 days later I got email that the shoes were being shipped. By 8/31 when I still hadn’t received shoes I emailed and called and had to leave message. I then received an email that they were “looking into it.” I then opened a dispute with PayPal and at that time they emailed me:

“Thank you for your call. We were unaware that your order for the Sofft Raya size 7 medium in white patent was back-ordered after it was originally on schedule to be shipped to you from the manufacturer. We have contacted Sofft and your order will be shipping in 5-6 days. We apologize for this and if there is anything else we can assist you with, please email us at sales@shoepeddlers.com.
    Sincerely,
    Amy”

Baloney, I then asked them to cancel the order as it would not reach me by vacation time. Two more emails from them tell me they would try to cancel and then sorry it has been shipped but if I don’t want them they will gladly accept return.

When I returned from vacation shoes were here so I printed their return form and without even opening box returned shoes. I sent Certified with return receipt. Got the receipt that someone named Marcia signed for but still no return of my money.

One reason not to use PayPay as opposed to visa is that they will get involved if you do not get your merchandise but once you file a dispute you cannot reopen it and they can do nothing about getting your funds back to you after a return.

This company is going to be hearing from me every day til I drive them nuts or get my money back.

  55. I found some fantastic shoes at a local - but expensive, shoe store.
They were perfect. Not too plain, not too trendy, not too fancy - just perfect! I then turned them over and saw the catch: $185.+tax. UGH.
For a 15 year old with not a ton of money, it’s more than I’d like to spend on my feet, BUT, I liked them enough, and I had a chunk of cash saved up, so what’s the harm? I asked for my size, tried them on, and not only did they fit perfectly, but they looked just as good as they did on the shelf - I was in love! I thought it best to think before handing over the cash, so I thanked them for their time and walked away.

A couple days later I came back to buy them, and THEY WERE GONE. Ahhhhh! NO! They can’t be gone! OH GOSH. What will I do? I suppose I could look online, right? But no, I don’t like the whole credit card business. Well, times have changed, there are new liability laws out there, and most importantly, they’re F*CKING FANTASTIC. So I did the deed, I googled “Pikolinos Panama” and found them. Yippee! I was so pleased, especially after such a heartbreak. I typed in the credit card number, chose the size, colour, typed in my name and address, and clicked enter.

I then thought, well it would have been a good idea to do a bit of background check on the site before you give up such valuable info. So I did, and came across this site. “Terrible experience. They won’t refund my money. Never got the shoes.”, “This is the worst online store I have ever done business with.”; NOOOO! Not me! WHY!? Oh gosh… what will I do? OH GOD… will I have to call VISA? How can I cancel it? Do I WANT to cancel it? I mean, it was only $160., so it isn’t a ton of money to lose, and I’d rather chance and get these phenomenal shoes. I chose the latter - half-heartedly, but still hopeful.

Well, the shoes came today, and I’m so relieved. I can officially add myself to the unfortunately minute list of customers satisfied with their purchase.

  56. Well, count me in with the people regretting getting involved with ShoePeddlers. If I had just gone to Nordstroms and spent the extra 15 bucks, I could already be wearing my Born boots. But no, I went for the bargain.

Apparently my order after two weeks of processing has finally been shipped. We’ll see, but I have no faith in them.

Wish I had checked here before ordering.

  57. shoepeddlers.com SUCKS!!!!! never a response, nobody answers the phone, shoes on back order all the time. and some dumb shoesy owner saying THAT is good business.

shoepeddlers.com YOU ARE THE WORSE ONLINE BUSINESS.

  58. Just thought I’d list my experience…although not a complaint. I ordered a pair of boots on the site (found them way less expensive here than on other sites). After ordering thought I probably should have checked out the site to see how people reviewed them…and found this site. I started figuring that I would never see the boots. But to my surprise, on Monday I got an email telling me the boots were shipped (I had placed the order Sunday, the day before)…still sceptical based on some of the reviews…but to my excitement my boots showed up at my doorstep on Wednesday (only three days after placing the order). The boots are perfect. Based on all the other reviews I guess I was lucky…but I couldn’t have been happier with my experience with the site.

  59. The absolute worst and most stressful online experience of my life. I wish I had read these reviews before I ordered from Shoe Peddlers. I finally had to get my credit card company to involved. This whole process took over two months. I ordered the shoes from Zappos in frustration and got them the next day. You will NOT save money from Shoe Peddlers and if you do, you will pay for it in stress. don’t waste your time or raise your blood pressure.

  60. Don’t do it!! They said they had the shoes I wanted in stock, however what they do is when you order a pair of shoes they then order the pair from the company, have them shipped to shoepeddlers, and then they (maybe) ship it to you!!! It is a scam!! Call using the above numbers and cancel your shipment!

  61. Take a look at Gregs comments on March 3rd. The number he lists (920-434-6292) seems to be the owners personal number. I got her on the phone on a Sunday night and she seemed to be at home. I talked with her about cancelling my order and hopefully this will result in being to order from a reputable dealer. If you need to contact someone at shoepeddlers.com, definitely try this number first. Here’s to hoping I can actually get my wife’s Christmas present from someone else!

  62. I sent some shoes back to Shoepeddlers.com and have yet to recieve a refund. No one is answering the phone ever or calling back after leaving messages.
Thanks for the other phone #, i will try that later today!!!

  63. I ordered a pair of shoes from the Shoe Peddlars two different times in December 2008. Both arrived in excellent condition in less than a week. I have been wearing them.

  64. I just love these complaint sites. I saw the comment by Shoesy about the same person posting. I work for an internet research company and can tell you this is very common, especially on on sites specializing in “reviews”. It’s unfortunate because I have been a long time customer of shoepeddlers.com and have had nothing but wonderful service. In fact, I get all my shoes from there because they are by far the best deal on the web when it comes to comfort shoes. I will keep doing business with them and highly recommend them. By the way, wearing a pair of shoes around and then trying to return them is ridiculous.

  65. Thanks for the warning. You stopped me just in time! I’ll go elsewhere.

  66. Shoe Peddlers.com looks great “on paper”…but don’t be fooled! I, too was soooooo excited to finally find the boot that I wanted and they were listed as IN STOCK! LIARS! What they do is advertise the cool boots and then they have to order them from the manufacturer! They don’t send an email and tell you that, they just keep avoiding your calls, so DO NOT TRUST THEM!

  67. DIRECT contact inormation for ShoePeddlers.com is:

    Birkenstock
    4760 Integrity Way
    Appleton, WI 54913
    920-882-3986

Pursue them until you get satisfaction.

  68. My credit card was used without my knowledge and the person purchased shoes from shoe peddlers for about $300. I emailed them 3 times and called their ‘customer service’ phone number 6 times leaving urgent must be call me back messages….nothing…and still to this day they have not contacted me. DO NOT BUY from this place..its a sham.

  69. I wish I would have found this page first. Now I get to join the rest of you who have never recieved their shoes and are having a hard time getting a response from the company. I am wondering, if anyone who works for the company now, or use to work for it, reads this page. If so, couldn’t you annoymously post something to tell us what is go ing on here? Is this a scam to take away our $$$ or is it just a website being run by morons?

  70. The following is a review I am currently leaving on websites for Vagabond Shoe Store in Green Bay, WI. I went in there in-person and could not believe how I was treated. While searching for places to leave reviews, I found this website - Bingo!! I can’t believe there aren’t more complaints/reviews for the actual store (Vagabond), or that they are still selling online! I guess we can take comfort in knowing, ‘what goes around, comes around’!!

    My review:
I have never been treated with such arrogance and snottiness in my life! Not sure who these people think they are, but someone needs to let them know they wipe their a** the same way everyone else does in the morning. Apparently we didn’t have the correct designer clothes on to enter this nasty, extremely over-priced ’store’. The clerks approach you with a sneer, and then whisper to each other right in front of you and stare at you the whole time you’re there (with the same sneer, I might add). Needless to say, we walked out and will never go back. The funniest part, when I looked for a place online to leave feedback, I came across the following website. I COULD NOT BELIEVE the number of complaints about these people. Check it out, it’s not just me! http://mybiggestcomplaint.com/wwwshoepeddlerscom/

  71. Shoesy II, try googling K. Kelnhofer some time and you’ll learn a few things. She doesn’t carry certain brands of shoes anymore cuz those shoe companies got tired of not being paid and won’t do business with her anymore. She treats her employees like crap which is why there’s a constant stream of them and why they’re so rude, cuz their po’d. Her website is a joke. She doesn’t keep track of her shoes, so don’t think just because a shoe is on the site that you’ll ever get it. Run, don’t walk, away from this business!

  72. AAhhhhh!!! Well I guess I learn my lesson. Never buy online without researching first. It was too good to be true, can’t find these boots anywhere else. It sux most because I’m not a rich person and saved up for the $175 boots of my dreams. I’m only on my first week but I can see from the previous posts I’m dreaming if I think anything but heartache will come of this. I am going to try to cancel my order… We’ll see what happens. I will post again when all is said and done. This is your chance Shoe Peddlers. Karma is one hell of a B.

  73. Well, we have about 6 pairs of shoes from them and a drawer full of SmartWool socks. It is true that no one there knows up from down, and I was given a series of different phone numbers to figure out my order. Inventory on site had little to do with what they had in stock.

Nonetheless, everything arrived (several orders over a couple of years). They seem more like hapless morons than thieves.

  74. Ok I said I’d give an update- Order successfully canceled. I called Kathleen and tried to be as professional as possible. She was nice and equally professional. I said I wanted to cancel my order due to non communication. She asked if I was still interested in the item. Of course I was. I received an email shortly after our convo. Lo and behold, my item was out of stock. I asked to cancel my order and for email conformation of my cancelation which I received. So no harm no foul I guess. Arrrgg though I still want those boots!!

  75. if you want her personal email address… just send her a message via facebook… she is the only Kathleen Kelnhofer on there… you dont need to be friends to send a message that is redirected to her personal email!!!

I am sorry about my twisted idea.. but it should work if no one is gettting back to you!

  76. Well where should I start. This company Vagabond Shoes, does very shady business online and in the stores. Kathy the owner has three different alias that I know of and she owes all the companies that she gets her shoes from money. So the only reason people have to wait for their shoes is because she hasn’t really ordered them. She waits till she gets your money and then puts you on hold for months in the hopes that you will forget that you gave her money. And in all that time she never did order your shoes. She owes the IRS money. They come into her stores at least once a year and empty out her registers for some of the money she owes them. She uses her different alias’s to buy shoes from these companies so she has shoes in her stores. In my opinion this woman should not be running a business. She reminds me of a drug lord. They don’t care about you only the money.
