I order a lot of stuff online. Typically I am pleased with the results. It’s simple, go to the website, order, pay, receive product in 7-10 days, happy feelings overwhelm me when I see the box on my door step when I arrive home from work.
Let me warn everyone that you will not experience the same sense of satisfaction and warm fuzzy feelings if you order shoes from www.shoepeddlers.com (shoe peddlers). I ordered a pair of shoes from this company on April 19th and have not yet received them two months later.
I began my frustrating and ongoing email dialogue with this company on April 25th when they sent me an email explaining that the item was on back order until May 3rd at which point it was going to be shipped. Although at this point I was slightly dissappointed I understood and accepted this scenario. During the course of the past two months I have emailed the company 10 times and called them more times than I can possibly count. Every time I call I have to leave a message on their voicemail and my call is never returned. I have actually only had one real conversation with anyone from the company. Their explanation that the shoes were being shipped from Germany satisfied me for the first 6 weeks of my shoepeddlers.com adventure but now I find that I am in a verbal war with this company over email and voice messages, only I am the only one with diaglogue.
In summary, never order from this company because you will never get your shoes or a response!

Princess Leia,
It sounds like this shoepeddlers isn’t really a serious on-line business. I would bet it is an internet storefront for a corner shoe store, or some mom and pop trying to sell shoes they get on the cheap. Their website has some sections that are shadey, and clearly their business practices are too. Thanks for the review of them and warning the rest of us.
I had a similar issue - . ShoePedders (Vagabond Shoes Inc.) issue is that they don’t update inventory online so you order shoes that aren’t even available. The manufacturers are overseas so you have to wait for them. When I did get in touch with customer service, they were very nice. They definitely need to reconsider how they run their business. They offer no phone contact information either, but here’s a number I found just in case you are in this situation too: Kathy is the Principal: 920-498-2429

Wish I’d read your reviews before I placed an order last week. I ordered some shoes two weeks in advance of a trip I’m taking. I paid extra for 2-day shipping to insure that I would have them in time for the trip. Now, time is quickly running out and I can’t get in touch with anyone. Thanks so much for the phone number. I’ll try that but am not expecting much satisfaction.
Future buyers beware!
Try zappos or onlineshoes.com instead. They are great!!

I also wish I had read these comments before purchasing some shoes. We purchased some two weeks ago and still have not heard back from the company. Anyone reading this should avoid buying from shoepeddlers.com

Had same problem with Lord John’s footwear. I believe they now call themselves My Shoe Store. Had to call Better Business Bureau to get them to credit me for shoes that they charged me for but never shipped. Turned out they never had them in stock. Be careful of companies that charge you before they ship the product.

We are yet another victim of Shoe Peddlers’ bad business policy. We are only on Day 8, and Email 2 of “the wait,” but we’ve given up already.
Next stop, I’m checking my credit card site — if they’ve charged my card, I’m contesting the charges. “No services rendered.”
Cheers from Portland!

I ordered two pair of shoes. One arrived within 7-10 days; the other I waited for three weeks and never a communication from Shoe Peddlers about expected arrival. They need to let customers know at the TIME THE ORDER IS PLACED what the time of shipping will be. While they respond promptly to emails and are very pleasant, this is no way to run a business. Too bad for them. They could have a really good thing going.

Hi there. Sorry about your bad experiences. I have bought two pairs of shoes from shoepeddlers.com and have never been more satisfied. I think they are very serious and reliable sellers and will definitely continue buying shoes at their web-site.

This is the worst online store I have ever done business with. I, too, wish I’d read about SP before buying my shoes–it’s been three weeks, and not so much as a response. Unbelievable.

I ordered some shoes online on 10th November ‘07 and paid by VISA the same day. After 2 months and over a dozen e-mails I have nothing.
I have threatened legal action, I have contacted the FBI and the local police now. I still have heard nothing! These people are either unbelievably stupid or just brazen criminals. Either way they should be avoided like the plague. They are absolutely the worst online retailer I have ever come across.

I can only echo the comments that this is the worst company to do business with. I have been fighting with them to get a refund for a defective shoe they sent to me for 6 months and have yet to get another pair of shoes for a return. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.

I just looked into the BBB listing for them. Not surprised to see Unsatisfactory. 33 complaints posted to the BBB in 36 months!! I was going to order a pair of discontinued shoes from them, started poking around the website and decided to check it out online before I went any further. Glad I did. From the sounds of it- they likely didn’t have my shoes anyway. How can a shop stay in business with their rep? And yes, it appears they have a small store in Wisconsin.

I ordered and got the item alright, but it seems they have taken my return item into limbo! Despite confirmation of delivery of the returned item, and over a dozen e-mails, they have not issues a refund, made a statement of intent to refund, or even acknowledged the return. Ordered shoes in Nov 2007- got them, but it turned out I need one size larger shoes. So, I followed the instructions for return and we agreed via e-mail tha they will exchange the shoes for a bigger size. I never got the larger size. I sent many e-mails and as recently as early Feb 2008 they answered once to say that they are processing the order, but I have not gotten anything yet. I wrote more e-mails to ask eitehr for the shoes, or a refund - nothing so far. Fom the other entries, it seems that one cannot win on that …

I also had a very bad experience. They shipped late, charged my credit card for the full amount after an “in-store credit” was suppose to be applied and never returned my e-mails. I finally got results after I contacted VISA and had them look into it. That seemed to shake them up and after a few more e-mails, with the help of VISA, I got my money back. My advice….report them!!!

I placed an order with ShoePeddlers on Monday, March 10 and recieved confirmation of “your order is being processed” on March 12. As of Friday, I had recieved no e-mail stating that my order had been shipped. Thanks to this site, I phoned 920-434-6292 and got in contact with Kathy. I asked her to look up my order number and cancel my order, as I had not recieved any information on it. (I had checked, and there was no charge on my VISA.) She could give me no confirmation #, but agreed to send me an e-mail immediately stating that the order had been cancelled. I recieved the e-mail in my inbox within minutes.
If you aren’t getting your shoes, I suggest taking this tact. SAVED!!!!

Ah, caveat emptor. Sucked in by the prospect of deals on my favourite brands, I dove in without checking out the company. Add my name to the list of unhappy customers. I called the phone number 920-434-6292 — no answer, no answering machine. Found half-baked replies to my emails in the “my account” section. Also discovered one of my orders wasn’t even listed there. Spoke with American Express to see what charges had gone through on my account. An interesting find of debits and credits! Thankfully American Express will contest all transactions if the vendor doesn’t cough up the goods within 30 days. My money will be refunded ($500!!) and Shoepeddlers will have Amex to deal with. Cold comfort. I want my shoes!

Low and behold…I got 3 of the 5 pairs of shoes I ordered!
This came as a complete surprise. One of them was supposedly
no longer in stock. The other pair never confirmed as processing or shipped! I have one pair outstanding, still no answer as to their status after 3 emails. The order doesn’t show in “my account” at the site. They respond haphazardly to emails, provide vague replies. I can’t say its been a happy experience. Too bad. They looked like a promising shoe dealer, offering all my favourite brands. Wish they’d update their website. They’re still offering the brands and sizes shoes I was informed were discontinued/sold out/or out of your size. I learned a HUGE lesson here. Always do your research!

It’s pretty obvious that there are many posts by the same person on this website using different names (check the spelling errors). It is also very apparent that some of you (or maybe it’s really just one of you) are not all there. I’ve seen posts about contacting the FBI and local police departments?? You’ve got to be kidding me. I’ve been ordering from shoepeddlers for two years now and had nothing but great service. Complaint sites like this are quite entertaining, because there is no editor and nobody to check facts. This is most likely one disgruntled person making many posts. Get over yourself and move on with your life.

“It’s pretty obvious that there are many posts by the same person on this website using different names (check the spelling errors).”
Sorry Shoesy.
Not sure that an occasional similarity in misspelled words means that the same person is using different names and making all these posts.
Glad you’ve had a good experience with shoepeddlers.com. It sounds like you may be the exception to the rule. If you think this is a problem, why don’t you drop the editors a note.
The most likely explanation for the excessive amounts of poor reviews of Shoe Peddlers is the company’s business practices and not a vendetta by the “same person.”
I’ve finally concluded business with ShoePeddlers. They emailed
me yesterday afternoon to advise me the status of the remaining
pair of shoes. Discontinued/not in stock.
I continue to have hope ShoePeddlers will get it together. Simple tasks such as keeping inventory current on their web page and prompt replies to emails will begin the construction of a good reputation and is the mortar required in repairing a damaged one.
I’m thrilled Shoesy has had great experiences with ShoePeddlers.
I’m willing to give them another chance if they improve. They certainly know about this web page; I informed them of the reviews here.
Best,

I have to agree, I one lone person isn’t making all these comments.. I happen to have posted the BBB info above because I checked out the store before I was going to place my order. So, while I directly have not had bad experiences- I can assure you many people have based on the BBB reports filed. You can’t dispute that, and I’m sure one person did not make all those reports to the BBB under false names to disparage a company. If you check, I’m pretty sure the negative BBB numbers have likely went up for this company- so, sorry Shoesy- your theory doesn’t work.
JO on March 21st, 2008 at 6:25 am | Link
Yep, they now have 4 more complaints against them. Any company that has this many unsatisfied customers that needed to get the BBB involved really needs to re-think why they are in business..

If you think the BBB is an accurate representation of a business, then I can tell you have never ran your own business. The BBB is a clearinghouse of complaints that are usually never verified and most often unwarranted….very similar to this website.
Shoesy on March 24th, 2008 at 12:03 pm | Link
Nope, never ran my own business- however the companies I’ve worked for ranged from retail jewelry to a large audio visual company, and they all have gotten those BBB complaint free certificates years running. If you have a retail store and 37 plus complaints against you in a reporting period, there is something wrong.. period.

You can get the BBB involved if you think an employee looked at you wrong…it’s not that hard and it’s not that affective.

I do believe most people would not go to the trouble of filing a complaint with the BBB for someone “looking at them wrong,” or even for minor business irks. The BBB is an organization that does contact both the customer and the vendor and does either “close” the complaint or note it was unable to reach agreement of some acceptable comprimise. They are not a “clearinghouse” for complaints like this board. I do realize you have a bone to pick because of something, but a reality check is a reality check. Being in business a number of years doesn’t mean you take care of your customers or your reputation. Based on the size of the business and the type (they are a shoe store, not a general contractor) they have a unacceptably large amount of complaints. Your reponses are obviously based on the need to be argumentative. I am posting only what is available for anyone to look up on their own.

I can assure you that the people posting here are telling the truth. I found Shoe Peddlers online and was thrilled that the shoes I was looking for were in stock and, as a regular internet shopper, I promptly ordered 2 pair and was happy when the email confirmation came back that the order was in process. As I was leaving for a trip the next week I also ordered special 2-day delivery via UPS. And waited.
After enquiring as to the status of my order and receiving no response and having my departure date approaching, I “googled” Shoe Peddlers which is a good lesson. I should have done this first.
I found this forum and thank goodness, someone had posted Kathleen’s information. So I called the number and spoke to Kathleen, who gave me another number but the woman I was supposed to speak with was not working (back Monday). Back and forth. Back and forth.
This was the absolute worst service I have ever experienced. Somehow, they have several people “working” on the phone, but no one seems in charge of anything. Clearly, this is a small operation trying to operate on a large-scale but it is not working. Furthermore, they promise things that they never are able to deliver. I wrote at least 20 emails (3 of which were responded to with incorrect information), only to figure out that the 2-day delivery was never going to happen; the 1st pair of shoes came 4 weeks late; the 2nd pair of shoes (despite confirmation email) was out of stock but that did not stop them charging my credit card first (which Kathleen promised wouldn’t happen).
If anyone can suggest other ways to post complaints, better business bureau, etc. I would be more than happy to write more and document this in great detail.
Horrible service.
I hope that they read this and realize you cannot run a business this way.
Also, a reminder to me (and maybe you too?) Not all online vendors are reputable and it pays to do due-dilligence before typing in your credit card.

I’m afraid I am another person to add to this list. 1st they told my shoes were in stock & shipped, 2 weeks later after still no boots I emailed looking for a tracking number and was informed they would look into it. One week after that they emailed stating they were just shipped. When I did receive my items they were not true to size & did not fit. I returned them in the original box, with the return label from their website, insured & w/delivery confirmation. I week later I emailed inquiring about my refund & was then told it “would be finalized by the end of the week”
That was more than 2 weeks ago… no refund
I have reported them to the BBB after I felt I exhausted my other options

I filed the original complaint on this company. As a follow up to my original experience with the Shoepeddlers.com, after more than two months of calling and not receiving my shoes I decided that I no longer wanted them.
My quest to get in touch with an actual person at the company became a game. It literally got to the point where I called them every day for a week. I would leave a message stating that I would like to cancel my order because after two months it had not been fulfilled and that I wanted to see how many days in a row I could call without getting a response from them. In addition to the phone calls I would also send emails that received no response as well. The phone calls and emails were actually very nice and matter of fact in nature without any tone of threat.
One day I could not stand it any longer. I called my friend who conveniently happens to be a lawyer and told him the saga. He called the company stating that his client would like to cancel the order and to please call him to verify that they would do so. I kid you not, within 15 minutes someone from the company called him back to cancel my order and that was finally the end of my shoepeddlers.com experience. So if you’d like to constantly be ignored about the status of your order, never receive your order, and have to get a lawyer involved to cancel your never fulfilled order, shoepeddlers.com is the company for you!
I am a busy man and I know my sizes. So, I order a lot of stuff online. Shoepeddlers.com is the absolute worst experience that I have ever had with ordering items online. The WORST. I hope people that are reading this take my advice and avoid shoepeddlers.com at all cost. I know I am.

I have to say that this is a wake up call to me. I have never had to research a company on line until I ordered from shoepeddlers. I thought if the brand’s website listed them as an on-line vender I would be okay. . . Boy was I wrong. I started my transaction in Feb. 2008 and I am still trying to resolve the situation. I wish I would have read this first. I had a size problem as well. I own 4 pair of shoes from this brand so I know my size, but from this company that didn’t seem to matter and now I’m out $100 and I don’t have my shoes. I have reported my problems to the shoe brand in hopes that they will no longer supply this company. My next step will be to contact my credit card company.

I’m so glad I found this site. I was beginning to think I was going crazy. I have ordered from this company three times (some of us are really stupid)! The first time, I ordered three pairs of shoes. I did eventually get one pair. It didn’t fit, but I couldn’t return them for money back (just store credit) because they were a “clearance” item. So, I kept them- it wasn’t worth the hassle to go through the process (which should have been my first warning). The second time I ordered, they had nothing in stock, so I was saved. The third (AND LAST) time I ordered from this company, one pair of Keens was “backordered.” The other pair of Keens was supposedly available, but I never heard anything about the status of my order (even though I paid for 2 day express shipping). After numerous emails and calls, low and behold, the one pair of shoes show up today. I’m still trying to cancel the backordered shoes, so I don’t know what is going to happen there. Granted, the shoes that did finally show up are the wrong color, but I don’t dare return them after hearing about all of you guys’ complaints! I have to thank this site- and in my email- I did comment to Kathleen that “I know you have numerous complaints on your company” and that seemed to do the trick. Honestly, I am not sure if Shoepeddlers bad service is intentional. Maybe they just need to get their acts together. I’m still undecided, but I have learned my lesson. If any of you are still having problems, all I can recommend (like the others) is to file a complaint online with WI’s BBB. Also, just keep at it- keep calling and leaving voicemails. It seems like Kathleen will respond to voicemails (via email) more promptly as opposed to when you just email her. Good luck to the rest of you!
And to Shoepeddlers- please get a new IT person- or whoever designs and maintains your web site. Your web page advertises shoes (sizes, styles and colors) that you do not have in stock. It’s misleading!
