My Biggest Complaint About Women Who Won’t Hold The Door

As a guy, I’m expected to hold open a door (or open it in the first place) for a woman, but heaven forbid a woman open a door, or hold it open for me.

Most of the time, a woman will open the door only wide enough for herself to slip through, even if she sees me heading toward the door behind her.

  1. …and they never remember to put the toilet seat back up.

  2. I understand that it is usually customary in pre-feminist times for a man to hold open a door for a woman, but seriously, what is REALLY the big deal? I have never walked through a door and let it slam in a woman’s or ANYONE’s face for that matter! That is the height of rudeness and discourtesy!

But why do I have to continually be made to feel guilty about not holding the door open for women at times? I just can’t fathom why I have to feel so guilty or chastened about it.

  3. Don’t feel too guilty. You fellas who don’t like holding the door for a lady only make me look that much better when I do. So, no guilt ! I encourage you to slam the door on her every chance you get. And I will be there with my abundance of chivalry (just don’t tell that I leave the lid up on purpose every time) to save the day!!!

  4. It’s just common courtesy. Gender shouldn’t really be an issue. You’re a dick if you don’t hold the door for someone, whether you’ve got one or not.

  5. As a woman, I am annoied by women who don’t hold open the door.. I might not hold the door open for a man or woman all the tie but I atleast slide my hand along the frame and give it an extra push so it might stay open long enough for them to catch it without “opening” it again. I don’t expect people to wait for me to get to a door, holding it open the whole time. But if you know I’m behind you and you only open the door enough for yourself to barely slip through thats just RUDE! Even better is where there is a handle on the other side and they pull the door shut due to outside temperatures. Then it’s like a tug-o-war to get the door back open.

People just need to be nice, no matter their gender
