My Biggest Complaint About What Happened To Just Leaving A Message

I hate voicemail…  Much more specifically I hate voicemail systems.  My wireless carrier has the dumbest options for listening to your voicemail.  I hate having to call someone and must leave them a message, going throuth their message, only to be followed by another 30 seconds of automated voice horsecrap telling me my options “press 5 to page, press 6 to blah blah blah, press 9 to explode”.  THIS IS UNNECESSARY!!!   Whatever happened to “Hey, it’s Joe, leave a message…”  BEEP…

My outgoing voicemail message is just this:

Thanks for calling.  Please don’t leave me a voicemail. I hate voicemail.  I have your number, I’ll call you back.  If it’s business, leave a name, company, number, call back time, and leave it at that, don’t explain why, I’ll call you if I need to…

Its harsh, but at least people who are smart know that you can fast track to leave a message and ignore all that on AT&T’s voicemail system by simply pressing 1 to get through it.  On the other hand, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, and some of the local “prepaid” carriers don’t seem to have this option, or I haven’t figured it out yet.

For god’s sake wireless carriers, just get rid of the explanation of how this s#!t works and just make it beep immediately after the outgoing messag.  There’s enough crap with text messages, email, etc now that nobody gives a damn about the rest of your sh!tty voicemail options.

  1. In all my years, I’ve never faxed anything to a cell phone. In fact, I’ve never met or heard of anyone who faxed to cell phones. Add “press 4 to send a fax” to the list of unnecessary options.

  2. Dude you are damn right. One of my friends has AT&T and when he does’t answer his phone i get pissed cause I have to listen to this crap: ” you have reached the voice mailbox of 123-456-7890, to leave a callback number, press 5 now, at the tone, please record your message, when you are finished recording please press 9 for more option…..(long pause)….*beep*. Gah it drive me crazy..

  3. Great complaint.

  4. Grow up, it’s just voicemail. Hang up if you not want to go through the options.
