Welcome to the world of apple, perfection, superiority, blah blah blah. The pompous arrogance of the Steve Jobs and his cultist worshipers.
My 7 month old mbp 17" has the same bend and now needs to be shipped to apple for repair caused by heat damage. Read my other comment on "My Bent MacBook Pro - Apple Confirms All MacBook Pros Are Bent" post for the details on my issues.
Long live the pc world which has brought much of the technical and hardware diversity the world enjoys today. The openness of the pc world or the narrow apple centric and controlled by the whim of Jobs and what he desires for you world of apple.
Bow to the Altair of Jobs Ye Cultists of Jobism. As for me, Hasta la vista. NOT.
I bought a 17" macbook pro and haven't had it a year and now must send it to apple to be repaired because of heat issues. As far as I am concerned a repair amounts to a band aid. The cooling methodology employed on this unit is pathetic. The exhaust ports are blocked by the display mount. I must use an antec cooler s device consisting of 2 barrel fans to help draw air out of the casework and blow air on the bottom of unit to maintain stability.
Before any apple freak tells me the unit shouldn't be used on your lap, I run it on a table. Yet, apple marketing to college students depicts a macbook on a student's lap and also using "On your lap. In your dorm room."
Kernel extension crashes, lockups, heat related failure of keyboard and trackpad, wireless connection drops, bluetooth slowdowns and drops, inability of unit to display a login prompt after waking from sleep, different service modules faulting with different installations of the os and now battery capacity that fluctuates from one minute to the next from ~6000+mAH to ~100 mAH no doubt caused by overheating of the logic circuit in battery pack have proven once and for all to me apple is no better than any other manufacturer. The RAM and HDD test good and all updates are installed and I have installed the os at least 7 times now.
I am sick of the pedantic babble of Steve Jobs. I never have liked the man since the day he compared IBM to the big brother of 1984 in the Insanely Mac marketing hype unveiling the GUI based Mac he was gifted by the board of directors of XEROX who could not see what their geniuses at PARC developed in the 70's. What a slap in the face of a company that pioneered mass scale computing going back to the days of the Tabulating Machine Company of the 19th century. Imagine how less advanced economically and otherwise society would be today if it were not for the efforts of IBM in the first part of the 20th century. Such POMPOUS ARROGANCE.
SO SICK of the everyone copies US crap. SO REPULSED with the assertions that everyone else is third rate trash compared to apple. SO THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED with the apple is perfect, flawless and that Microsoft screwed us MANTRA. At least Microsoft admits its flaws and mistakes while apple will do everything in its power to not admit its shortcomings and flaws and blame them on everyone else who contributes to the apple platform (e.g., intel, atheros).
DISGUSTED with the apple zealots who swarm pc, windows, linux and unix forums with their snide name calling crap and then cry foul when a pc worlder does likewise. Such the liberal methodology, "We are not bound by the rules by which we expect you non-liberals to be bound" crap.
TIRED of the attempts by apple marketing to assume the status of progenitor of a technology it might first have used in their platform but was created by someone else. Many apple freaks do not realize how much of apple's existence is owed to XEROX PARC and ADOBE, founded by John Warnock, a former PARC researcher who devised a method of printer control while at PARC. Many apple freaks would actually believe apple invented the mouse when the mouse was actually invented in the 60's by Dr. Doug Englebart at Stanford Research Institute. Don't forget Al Gore invented the internet too. OH, by the way, apple invented ethernet networking, not Robert Metcalfe, another genius at PARC.
In the words of your beloved GOD STEVE JOBS, "Good artists copy, Great artists steal. And I will unashamedly admit I steal ideas."
So, enough already with the MANTRA that apple invents everything while everyone else steals from and copies poor old apple.
apple doesn't even deserve to have its name capitalized as far as I am concerned.
After having observed enough apple zealots, I have come to the conclusion they possess the same character traits and psychological dynamics of religious cultists. I would in fact not be surprised if many are cult members and most are just the mindless entertainment zombie masses who collectively justify the outrageous economic value ascribed to acting, musical and athletic talent while us scientists, engineers and technocrats are of little economic value and consistently told to make wealth off of our skills is an abasement of humanity which justly deserves the fruits of our efforts without cost.
GOODBYE apple, from this onetime buyer of a macbook pro and mac mini. I will continue my support of the pc industry which is responsible for much of the hardware diversity enjoyed today. Much happier with this way than to buy hardware inflexible apple systems designed for point and click monkeys whose existence for the most part is measured by the entertainment they can derive in life.
BOW DOWN TO THE ALTAIR OF JOBS YE CULTISTS OF JOBISM. As for me, HASTA LA VISTA. NOT.
Apple freaks bowing down to the altar of the Cult of Jobism consistently slam everyone else in the market as third rate trash but then complain when those outside the Cult of Jobism slam Job. Typical hypocrisy and proves at every turn why I have concluded most apple zealots do indeed possess the character traits and psychological dynamics of religious cultists.
I finally gave Apple a chance by buying a mac mini and 17" macbook pro. I haven't have the macbook pro a year and already must send it off to apple for repair because of defects in design of thermodynamic principles. I can cook a steak and egg dinner on my machine. NOT IMPRESSED. Will not buy another apple product again.
