they announce it because some people get so caught up in what they are doing that they lose track of time and once the registers are closed out for the night, that's it... No more purchases being made that day. They don't re-open them, the drawers are counted out and recorded. And then the employees go home....because nobody wants to be at work when they don't have to be.
