My Biggest Complaint About Unsolicited Text Messages

Just got a text message saying Ive won! Wow. Contacted phone company they said there is nothing they can do about it except to disable text messages on or account. Even tho we don’t even use text messages but a few times a year we should not have to disable just to prevent phone spam.

LOOK OUT ITS THE NEXT BIG SPAM/SCAM.

  1. and if you don’t have a txt message plan you’re getting charged just for receiving that message. for them to say they can’t do anything about it is pretty crappy considering they get profit from it.

  2. Your right DBlock but even worse these are what they call premium text message services and even if you have the unlimited plan and you start getting these they cost you like $10.00 a pop. Kinda like joke of the day club or something stupid like that. The phone company swears that the only way is if you activate it either from your phone or the intrenet. Im going get your number sucka, then youll pay hundreds in premium services. What kinda deal is this where is all they need is your number?

Well GOOD NEWS verizon just informed me they have come up with a method to block the premium text message services and let your personal or business ones go through.

  3. That’s not entirely true… Cellular companies are billed for the premium services by the third party company and then relayed to the customer. most cellphone providers don’t like them either - because they PAY the third party company; and a lot of times end up issuing a credit for something they’ve already paid for.

Blocking SMS won’t always be the answer either - as even with most GSM providers - blocking SMS only blocks the message - not the charge - the subscription has to be cancelled THROUGH the actual Premium Service Provider…

It’s a terrible scam which puts the phone company in the middle of it…

  4. Yeah Juggerpat your right its third party who bill thru the cell phone company but the cell phone company has to have an agreement to bill for these charges with whatever company is issuing them. and as such you better believe they are charging a billing fee. So it is in the companies interest to and profit margin anytime your phone rings!
