The odd thing is I had the old Treo 300 and I could hear fine. You looked like a Star Trek, tricorder toting, goober using it, but I could usually hear people better (not great mind you, but better). I had to buy volume care to get mine to be louder. but dammit if you need software to do this then the damn thing can be tweaked to do it - why doesn't palm do it directly???? yes. yes. yes. a thousand times yes.
