My Biggest Complaint About The Previous Owner Who Should Have Never Set Foot in Lowes or Home Depot

I am one of those people who could probably fix or build just about anything. I bought a new house 18 months ago and have been busily redoing “repairs” that the previous owner made. Some of the things I have found just make me want to shake my head. Sometimes they even make me want to have another beer or two, actually. How can anybody make such stupid and unprofessional repairs? Even a child should have been able to do better (at least my child could). Honestly, I’m not talking about hanging crown moulding or building complex rafter systems here. I’m talking about your basic home fix-it that any idiot should be able to do if they cared about quality even one inkling more than George Bush cares about Cindy Sheehan (and that’s not much).

I really think and should stop selling things to people like these. I have no idea how they could implement such a screening system at the door, but if anybody has any ideas I’d appreciate you posting them here. Or if your P.O. (prior or previous owner) has made idiotic in the house you purchased, let’s hear about it.

I’ll even go out on a limb here and say if you are one of the people I am complaing about, just admit to it, submit a comment, and tell us why you do such things, please.

  1. Oh my goodness!!! The previous owner of my home (since 1995) was the original owner. According to many neighbors, he was THE fix-it man! I live in a lovely home, only one MAJOR problem… for some dumbass reason Mr. Fix-It installed (or re-installed) all of the electric sockets upside down. ALL OF THE ELECTRIC OUTLETS… EACH AND EVERY ONE… IN A 2 STORY, 3 BEDROOM HOUSE! What was this guy thinking?

  2. My home was a disaster as well. all the cat5e was miswired, all the coax had to be replaced expect for short runs becuse some idiot thought it should be installed for decoration I guess. The one and only working garage outlet was installed in series with the master bedroom GFIC circuit. Everytime the sprinkler system would quit (when garage power was out) when the GFIC was tripped. Go figure. The second garage outlet was attached to a spool of romex wound about itself and stuffed down the wall, no wonder it never worked.
