My biggest complaint about the judge who is suing the dry cleaners for 65 million dollars is that most people immediately say something like “That just goes to show you how bad lawyers really are.” or “You can find a lawyer to sue anybody for anything because all they want is money.”
Back up a second. The “judge” is actually an administrative law judge who began his frivolous suit several years ago while he was still a lawyer. He is continuing the worthless and embarrassing lawsuit by himself. He is not represented by a lawyer. The idiot administrative law judge is suing “pro-se”, or “by himself” because, I am certain, no lawyer in their right mind would take him as a client.
There is an old legal maxim, “He who has himself as a lawyer has a fool for a client.”
Everyone who hears the story automatically thinks it is a story about bad lawyers. Actually, there is only one bad lawyer who was somehow made a judge.
The truth of the story documents the incredible assistance the poor Korean dry cleaners have received from attorneys, both paid and unpaid. The case has generated nothing but calls to not only not re-appoint the judge, but to disbar the judge for his pursuit of the frivolous suit.
Don’t complain about the lawyers in this case because the real lawyers are helping the poor defendants who are obviously being taken advantage of.
Don’t complain about the lawyers in this case. Complain about the law that allows this idiot to pursue this worthless claim.
