The State of Florida Department of Education has signaled it’s attack on new teachers and using the current economic situation as an excuse. Quietly, they raised the fees on certification tests from an average of $25 to $100. They’re soaking the young kids coming out of college who want teaching jobs. Seems like they don’t need teachers anymore in the Sunshine State. On top of that they are hiring back retired teachers who are getting two state checks, one for retirement and one for teaching.Nothing wrong with hiring back an experienced teacher but hey, put a hold on the retirement check; you’re not retired. The new teachers are being kicked around like basketballs. No wonder Florida is so far behind in education.
