Starwars.com is trafficked by plenty of geeks like me in the 35-44 demographic. Big time traffic. Big time advertising money.
But does Starwars.com really need to show singles ads on the site? I recently took this screenshot while browsing the homepage of starwars.com (click to enlarge):
The 25-34 and 35-44 male demographic is the largest measured and reported source of traffic for starwars.com, so in any other setting, singles ads seem like an obvious sell. But Starwars.com should be different.
Although most web traffic companies do not report demographics for children, obviously the site recieves tons of visits from children fascinated by the Star Wars universe. I know, the internet is plastered with these ads so this probably isn’t the first time the kids have seen the ads. And before you say it, I am of the opinion that parents are ultimately responsible for what their children see on the internet.
But singles ads on starwars.com? I don’t think George Lucas really needs the money that badly.
