Yea, look down someday when you are sitting at a stop light. There is a million cigarette butts everywhere - looks trashy. Not everyone likes the way they look and millions of dollars are spent cleaning up your butts. I have an idea why don’t you use the ash tray in your car? That’s what it is there for. Littering is also against the law and carries a fine. But why don’t you stop littering just because “it’s the right thing to do?”

I hate seeing cig butts all over, it looks trashy. No wonder a lot of people have a bad opinion of smoking. And I really appreciate your last sentence: too often people think their responsibility stops at what is legal or not. That’s just the starting point.

Admittedly, I went on a rant about smoking, but between the lines it was about where I am with the finished product-the butt. I don’t care where I am, it’s not staying on my person/in my vehicle.

It makes me uncomfortable to think about the growing number of people who think like you. ‘everyone owes me everything’ and ‘nothing is ever a bad choice so I don’t have to behave like a human’. Personal and societal responsibility are things of the past and even religion and family are having trouble salvaging the little bit of respect and common decency that is SUPPOSED to be built in to humans.

It’s about time. I wish I knew where you lived so I could get 4 of my friends to help give you an obese hug.
OK…As it turns out I DO clean up trash in my own neighborhood.
I KNOW there are many people out there like aliveoutofspite who will continue to throw trash and butts and whatever they feel like out for others to pick up. He/she is doing whatever they do and justify it any way they want. I also do whatever I want to do. Here is what it is… I want to live in a clean, neat neighborhood and I am doing what I can to help make it that way. I finally had enough money to invest in a home and while it’s not the biggest or fanciest at least it’s clean and neat and I try to be a positive affect on the people and property around me. I could only hope someone else feels the same way.

I am a smoker and I never throw my ‘butts’ out of the car. I see people do it all the time. Most of those butts end up in the the gutters running into water systems or even ocean, lakes, rivers, streams etc. Folks need to think about the big picture. Not just simply, I am throwing my butt on the ground. Its not its permanent resting place. Stop being lazy and thinking its your ‘right’. Sure you CAN do it, but why the hell do you want to do it? Just because you CAN? Grow up, be responsible already.
