I am so glad it’s almost over. This has been the worst season of 24 ever.
The reason this season has been so terrible is simple, not enough Jack Bauer. 24 is Jack Bauer. Not the Vice President and his staff or other political cronies trying to destroy the country from within. And for God’s sake, don’t bring sex into the show, Jack’s only got 24 hours to save us!
What’s with all the other characters introduced this season? Are we supposed to care something about them? Are we supposed to be entertained by anyone non-Jack and non-geek? We don’t want these people for anything more than a cutaway shot.
This show is about Jack. Give him a mission, some ammo, his man-purse, Treo and direct line to the President and turn him loose. Don’t muck it up.
24 worked before because it was a good old fashioned western in disguise, not the soap opera it’s become. There were episodes this season where I asked myself “Is this West Wing or 24? Are they trying to set this up for a spin off or what?”
I even tried to look the other way when 24 broke tradition and resolved the season’s core issue with hours (episodes) to go. The whole idea was terrible and made me lose more interest in what was formerly one of the best shows on television.
Save 24. More Jack, less everybody else.
