My Biggest Complaint About Sandra Rinomato

I think Sandra is a phony and a terrible realtor.

The first thing she does is to dashes all hopes of buying a dream home by having her clients meet her in a neighborhood they clearly can’t afford. If she really had the clients best interest in mind she would have told them in advance the neighborhood selected was well out of their price range and saved them the embarrassment.
I would expect no less from my agent.

Then for a cheap thrill she forces them, yes I said forces them guess the price of the house they like only to deflate and embarrass them essentially saying, “Sorry sucker, you don’t make enough money to live here.”

Next this whole concept of staying out side while the clients browse through the house alone is nothing less than a cheap trick to get inside their head.
If her intention is really to let them form their own opinions without her influence then why listen in on them even worse make rude comments about their first impressions.

It’s painful to watch their confusion about the property knowing the so-called realtor is right outside doing nothing.

Next without fail she makes them guess the price of every single house.

Who does that?

Even if they come right out and ask she will turn it around and won’t tell them the price of the house unless they guess first.

I would fire the agent right there on the spot if they tried to pull that do-do on me. I’m paying my agent a good amount of money to give me the facts and information I need to evaluate my options. You insult my intelligence and waste my time asking me guess the price time after time like it’s some kind of a freaking game show.

What makes even worse is when they guess wrong and they usually do she will make a comment like “wow you’re way off.” Or “what a typical property virgin!”

Last but not least if they don’t like the house for any reason she will make horrifically ugly faces mostly directed at the weaker of the two clients and then makes desperate suggestions like blow out walls and replace carpet.

And who is going to pay for that Sandra, You?

Sandra is rude, over bearing and should not be in this business much less the host of a game show.
Oh did I say game show? I meant to say reality show. Bye the way. Stay out of the US. In case you haven’t heard we have a job shortage here and every time you sell property in America you are robbing potential business from our own realtors. They have family and children to feed.
I think it’s time to find someone new. Really, I can’t stand her

I cant stand her. Cant stand her voice, her choice in clothing (she’s trying to squeeze way too much flab in young clothes), and i’d swear there isn’t a drug testing program in force at her employer. Not to be so cruel, but rare as it is, sometimes someone just grates on you…she grates on me can’t stand her and ALWAYS change the channel when she’s on.
and as for her being a partner broker after only 12 years? With her personality? Obviously it wasnt real estate she had to sell a lot of to get there.

Her show is excellent and she is a realtor in very high demand. Many people want to be on the show and they know what the show is about. They get great advice and usually end up in a nice home. She cares about their best interests and works hard to get them the best price possible. If you don’t like her show don’t watch it and please don’t use her as a realtor if you don’t like her. Plenty of us do like her show.

Rinomato is awful. The camera most definitely does not love her. She has an annoying screechy voice, bad skin and badly hennaed hair. I think she is either an alcoholic with liver damage or uses way too much bronzer on her skin, which definitely appears jaundiced. She has a face you want to scrub and a gap between her two front teeth. Her clothes are way too tight for her body type.

I can barely look at her.

And her saleswoman ship….GROANS. She actually argues with her customers! You don’t argue with customers IMO….You ‘bring them around’……they are precious flowers! To be cultivated!! ……and she’s also “gimmicky

You guys are being too tough on Sandra and her show, I think it is entertaining. It does oversimplify the buying process though. If nothing else it can be interesting to see how much your money gets you in different cities. And unless she’s licensed in all those states she’s probably arranging the deal and a local agent is completing it. I do enjoy watching her squeeze into those tight tops, I keep hoping one of these days one of those massive buhbees will flop out and liven up the show a little………….lol.

I’m not a realtor but I have purchased several houses over the years and if my agent came on to me with the kind of pressure Sandra does she would get the boot.
Even the name property virgin is somewhat offensive but more importantly this woman is unbelievably rude and pushy.
In this episode I saw today her clients bailed on her and didn’t ever return her calls. Justifiably so I might add. This is not the first time I have seen it happen to her.

Sometimes when I’m out showing properties with people who can’t decide and spend way too much time looking I wish I could have Sandra there to help push them along and cut to the chase. I know the show is rehersed and staged but I really think she might be helping some of us Realtors out there. It’s a tough job and not as easy as most people think it is. My husband loves the show and he was a real estate broker 30 years ago.

I put it to you. How would you like it if you were going to spend $ 500,000,00 on a house along with 50 or 60 thousand dollars of your own money only to have your agent tell you to go proceed with the walk through while she stand outside and watches you on her lap top, listening in on everything you say.
Then you turn around and she seems to have just been standing there the whole time. She asks you in her squishy voice, “so whaduthink? Which she already knows from all her colonies videotaping your every move. You try to tell her that you just don’t feel it; she replies with a loud belthcy voice, “That’s not a good answer; this hooosh has everything you ask for. The client freezes in shock and says, we just aren’t feeling it.
The next thing you know Sandra is belittling them suggesting being a so-called properly virgin has muddled their minds and they think too much with their heart.
I can’t even go on it just pisses me off. I’ll tell something, if I ever run into her in my town selling hoooses I’m gona do something.

Sandra Rinomato seems OK to me.

She has a pretty typical Canadian accent.

She has a great smile.

There are a couple of things I don’t understand about her show

1) whether the 3 choices the clients get are the only 3 choices they’re given, but I suppose no, they are just the most they can show after editing - and

2) why some of the shows seem to hide the city they are in; I find that distracting because instead of paying attention, I’m looking for clues.

It’s ironic that all I had to do is Google “can’t stand Sandra rinimato” and found this site along with a host of others. After seeing just one of her episodes I was so enraged with her goofy looks and wannabe a realtor/actor mentality I just had to get it off my chest.
To say Sandra is rude and over bearing is an understatement. Not only do I find her grossly unattractive but the way she stands outside while trying to sell “hoouses” has got to be the laziest, half assed example of an honest days work I have ever seen.
And constantly belittling her clients behind their backs is completely unacceptable.
My wife went as far as to say she’d like to punch her in the mouth. I on the other hand am a lover not a fighter. Long story short, Sandra is the worst realtor I have ever seen. I can’t stand her.

Those were the biggest pair of designer jeans I’ve ever seen. She is so pushy and bitchy. No way would I ever buy a hoowse from her or Coldwell bank for hire ring such a schmuck.

I’ve seen this woman reduce young clients to the point of tears with her bullying, and her overbearing personality. There must have been complaints after the earlier shows, because I’ve noticed that she’s less bossy, and is attempting to ’soften’ her approach. She shows her young clients such awful-looking houses, and then tries to convince them that this overpriced garbage is value for money. These so-called real estate ‘experts’ have a lot to answer for. There’s something phony about this whole show.

Why does Sandra ALWAYS show homes that cost more than what her clients tell her they want to spend? She must only be concerned with her commissions, because she is putting first time home buyers in a position to fail. This is the number one reason for the rise in foreclosures; people buying homes they cannot afford. For a show that is supposed to help first time buyers, there will be an even bigger opportunity for a new show that details all of the foreclosures and defaults on homes that Sandra has been the realtor. It is a shame that HGTV has been enabling this type of scam on first time home buyers who are expecting to receive professional advice and not being forced into homes that are above the budget they set for their home search. She and HGTV are lucky that no one has sued for such bad financial real estate guidance.

My wife and I just bought our first house with a great agent — and we cannot believe some of the stuff that comes out of Sandra’s mouth. 50% of the time she encourages her potential buyers to enter a “blind auction” on the property and pay ABOVE the asking price!!!! In 2009!!!!!! This woman must be stopped

I’m actually quite surprised at the vicious comments. Her show is probably the best on HGTV. I think she looks great, especially her boobs! The show is called ‘Property Virgins’. Sometimes she’s hard on them because some of them don’t know what they’re looking for. Some of them turn down a house just because of the paint colour. Pretty stupid. Imagine having to deal with stupid people on a regular basis. Keep up the good work Sandra and ….hmmmm… maybe the blouses could be a little more low cut, just for a little more icing on that cake.

I never respond to these kinda things, but you people are nuts! THIS IS A TV SHOW! You people are killing me.

First off, the premise of the show shows that there are compromises with every property, regardless of you budget. I grew up in NY Westchester County and even with millions of dollars to spend there are compromises. There, people buy houses for over a million and knock it down to build another. Still location may be compromised.

As for the bidding wars and paying above asking ,price, you must be from some place in the middle of nowhere in the country. Economics 101 - Supply and Demand. This is what dictates the market. There are still bidding wars in some parts of the US and Canada, where supply is very low. Also, some of these shows were recorded prior to a year ago and the fall of the housing market.

As for her looks, I’m sure you are all stunning and walk the runway on a daily basis. lol

As for showing people houses they can’t afford, these people are idiots and she educates them. They go to buy a house and are fixated on the bottom line number but NEVER look at the monthly carrying costs, never figure in closing cost or monthly expenses.

On another note, the show is edited and frequently see many more than just 3 houses. It’s a half an hour show people…you all can’t be that stupid and think that they have to choose form these three houses that viewers see.

As for her real estate license, she only works in a few areas in the US and Canada - Totonto area, Florida, Texas, DC area and recently New Jersey. I’m sure she’s either licensed there or the show has a contract with a licenses broker.

I could go on and on responding to all of these ridiculous comments, but why bother? YOu guys can bitch all you want about her, but obviously you’re watching:

This IS a TV show! Not your every day ‘buying a house for the first time’ routine. These people who are on he show, obviously have seen the show to realize what the process is like. The show is called “Property Virgins” so I’m not sure why you guys think it is so wrong for her to do what she does and how she does it. She is a seasoned realtor and frankly she does a great job at giving her clients the advice they need. I think her advice is helpful and great - we all learn something. The woman is extremely successful and does well for herself (Sandra I love love love your Fendi shoes!!). I love the way she dresses and as far as I’m concerned, she has an great body. You need to stop hating on the woman and worry about your flaws because we all have them. If you “cant stand” her for whatever issues you have with yourself, don’t watch her show!!

I on the other hand LOVE her show and if I had a choice to meet an HGTV person, it would totally be her!

P.S. When you haters decide to stop paying RENT and buy a house for the first time, go on House Hunters or something.

So many people keep focusing on the fact that she stands outside while the ‘property virgins’ check out the house, then makes them guess the price. Is it not obvious that she’s trying to educate them as well as the viewers? Can we not see that she’s trying to bring these clueless potential homebuyers with unrealistic expectations back down to earth so that they can make an educated level-headed decision? Most of these ‘virgins’ have no idea what they want, and worse, they seems to think that they can afford a mansion on a tiny budget. As for attacking her physical appearance, well, that’s just so pathetic. Really? You’re ugly and I hate your show? What are you, eleven years old? If you want to see how Sandra’s ‘virgins’ would really be acting while searching for a house, watch My First Place. That show is filled with picky people with unrealistic expectations while their agents smile and nod and show them 200 properties when Sandra could have snapped them out of it real quick with her tactics.

I’m telling you as a first time home buyer myself that nobody should have to “guess the price” of a house over and over again. I expect to be told the price of the house before I even take the time to look at it.
I don’t need to play silly guessing games to gather information, people just aren’t that stupid. I saw one episode of this show and I was so turned off by what’s her face I don’t think I’ll watch it again.
In fact at the end of the show I was so pissed I did a simple Google search under “I can’t stand Sandra Rinomato” and you would not believe all the forums and pissed off people out there.
I expect my realtor to walk me though the house and explain things as we go along, not stand outside and make sarcastic comments about my impressions.

like it or not, sandra knows her stuff. I love it when she drops science on the stupid, over-picky virgins who haven’t even bothered to do their homework. Some of those buyers are so ignorant I want to punch THEM in the face, not sandra. I think she is awesome for being so patient. You say she’s bitchy, I say she gets the job DONE.
I like that she lets them go through alone. My first realtor went through with me and when I complained about a sloping floor (which is a sign of foundation problems) she tried to distract me by pointing out the ceiling fans. I would rather sandra had been there, at least she is honest about all the problems she knows about.
I really hate the people who say they want fixer-uppers, but then run screaming from a purple kitchen countertop.
And you say she’s ugly, that’s just stupid and petty. She is awesome and I wish I could have had her help when I bought my first place.
What really gets on my nerves are people who CANNOT spell, posting on message boards. Jeez, “over bearing” is actually one word. And “alot” is two. Turn off the TV, read a book, and shut up!

I don’t know why some of you are so upset. You must all be 20 - somethings who think all TV personalities are supposed to be young, beautiful people.

Sandra appears to be in her 40’s to me. She looks like a real person, not an airbrushed model. A real person has beauty and flaws at the same time. Overall, Sandra is attractive and a not bad figure.

As far as her real estate method is concerned - this is a television show people! It s for entertainment as well as information. The guessing of the costs of the houses is entertainment which gets the audience involved. How many of you have seen that and not tried to guess the cost along with the clients?

Be reasonable, I’m sure Sandra doesn’t present properties this way in reality. In reality she wants to sell properties and obviously doesn’t go about it by discouraging her clients or making them feel bad.

So watch the show or not. But keep in mind that you’re watching entertainment.

Clearly you don’t understand about the program or how TV works. Her comments directed toward people looking at the home while she’s outside are not made while she’s “spying” on them. They are inserted later in the editing process. Moreover, anyone appearing on the show knows what it’s about and they don’t have any surprises. If you don’t like it, why watch it? But if you”re going to watch it, then complain about it afterward, at least have your facts straight before doing so.

I ran into this site after trying to find more info on Sandra -as I think she is wonderful…what a shocker to see this!!!

I love her and wish she could have helped me out with my home purchases in the past. I love her confidence and her “can do” attitude.

It is fine to not like someone, but to slam someone the way some of the folks here are (without knowing her personally) is really a shame.

Let’s spread a bit more love instead of hate in this world.

If you don’t like the show, move on! It is just that simple!

Sandra does a great job on educating her clients. I really enjoy this show and have learned alot. She’s not a warm and fuzzy person, but she’s professional. Everytone has a different style and I’d rather her be herself then be fake.

Though I too wish her stylist would assist with more flattering clothes, I think Sandra is an attractive woman with a nice smile. I have a gap as well, and I think it’s quite rude for people to make such negative comments just because a person has a space between their teeth! How ignorant is that????? So it’s fine if you don’t like the show, but it’s very tacky and immature to talk about her appearance. That’s just plain mean!!!!!

Rachel, I agree with your post….people really stoop low when they start acting like 7th graders and pick on someone’s appearance.

In reality though, Sandra is actually very attractive. Her stylists probably have her in tight clothes for a reason -I have a theory behind that but my caffeine hasn’t kicked in yet and my baby is screaming so I can’t (lol).

What can I say -I like the woman and think she is awesome. I think warm and fuzzy doesn’t cut it in real estate….I’d rather have a realtor who “says it like it is” and does not sugar coat ANYTHING (I’ve made two huge mistakes with purchasing my last two properties and would have done anything to have her).

People, stop the hate already! Look in the mirror at your own faults and start working on them instead of crucifying an innocent person who does not deserve your horrible comments. This is a person we are dealing with here….where are your morals?

If you don’t like her, don’t watch her but there are MANY of us who find her charming, smart and overall enjoyable to watch.
I love how she sticks it to the picky and lazy home owners who would turn down a beautiful house because it has a bit of work to be done. She’s the real deal and awesome. Rock on Sandra!!!

What a jerk you are. First off, when you buy the house the seller is paying the Realtor NOT YOU. Having the custtomer look the place over on their own isn’t a bad thing, having them guess the price is a good thing. REMEMBER, the show is property virgins and she is showing them the do’s and don’ts about buying a home. Sandra, Keep up the GREAT JOB, Love the show.

Frankly.. the way hse handles these immature idiots is refreshing..and professional.. The start..shwoing them what they cannot affrod gets these lame people off their butts to work harder if they expect grandure..and letting them formulate their own opinions in the walkthrough is good TV.. I laugh every time.. and guessing the price is a good tool for self valuation.. things are not always what they seem..

I think she is gorgeous. Its funny that some search “cant stand sandra rinomato” and yet when you type her name in google the most popular drop down options include “sandra rinomato hot” and “sandra rinomato breasts”. I personally can’t get enough of her luscious breasts and tight curves. she knows it too, and you can almost always catch her showing those blouse puppies off (kind of hard not to!). She has a beautiful face, and i think the gap make her uniquely stunning. I always click over in hopes that she’s wearing one of those button down blouses, gapping between the buttons, just barely holding back her huge tits. god, i’m getting off just thinking about it. the perfect woman.

Good luck! Sandra is a horrible realtor in every way conceivable. She is rude, and condescending. TV show or not she has brought a bad name to the industry and should have her license revoked.
It amazes me that one idiot couldn’t really defend her so he or she complained about spelling errors. So What!
This site was created for those who take issue with someone or thing and it appears that there is a multitude of real life people who can’t stand this broad.
I don’t think these people are jealous anymore than you would be jealous of say Rosie O’Donnell. In this case Sandra just irritates the hell out of a lot of people including myself.

Can you imagine? All I had to do is type in “can’t stand Sandra Rinomato” and I found all kinds of sites devoted to her downfall.
I have a hard time believing this is just some kind of a fluke. Seriously I love to watch as I enjoy the different style home on the program but I have to watch it with the mute on to avoid having to listen to that awful screechy voice.
And what a lazy bitch as well, I can see I’m not the only one who has a problem with a realtor that doesn’t do their job. For a realtor to wait outside while the clients try to understand they layout of the property is just inconceivable. If I see her in 2010 I think I’m going to puke.

I must say, that although I watch the show quite religiously, its only for decorating ideas and to keep in touch with my Toronto roots.

Sandra has got to be the worst Agent there is. She has the Atlas syndrome, show something above price range, or show something in price range but bad neighbourhood. Or show a fixer upper.

I just purchased my home, and Sandra who is pushy with 3-4 home showings only (could be edited and she shows more)always waits for the offer and upsells the negatives and does not know what it means to offer lower than asking? Even advising a couple to proceed with Home Inspection on a BRAND NEW HOUSE, that is still covered in the warranty. Man, she is just terrible. I really do not know how she makes a living. I’ve got to say she takes the prize for being terrible, condescending and beyond reproach with her attitude.

I have to watch it on mute, most of the time, because I cannot handle her negativity.

My agent, was the most wonderful man and he showed us many homes. We purchased our home because he found it, he negotiated and we did not pay a cent over what we were comfortable with. Not once did he pressure us. We are now very good friends with him and his family.

And if anyone needs a good agent, I will not hesitate referring him.

I must agree with Grace on her faults with Sandra. She does strike a condescending chord every episode (if I hear “oh you virgins you!” one more time…) and she does seem to be pushy when a couple expresses that they could find something more to their liking.

We should be careful about criticizing other posters — there’s a difference between passing judgment on public people or celebrities and criticizing fellow members in a forum. For all intents, we are peers and should exercise more respect and caution with each other than with people who make a living being on television.

Last week, she talked a couple into taking a $400,000 mortgage instead of $300,000. The reason being the monthly payment is not that different. She is just a self-serving manipulative crook, thinking about her commission first and foremost.

Doesn’t she know the interest rates are probably going to be higher when their mortgage resets 3-5 years from now? Besides, with such a big mortgage, very few capital will have been paid and the housing market will have gone down the drain. Her show should be taken off the air. All it does is encourage people to buy too much house and live way beyond their means. She is going to be sued soon.

And I agree with dental work: she needs a dental job real bad.

I agree Sandra is a horrible agent. I don’t think she cares what the client wants; she is more interested in shoving her prefernce down their thoats. She is quite condescending. In one episode she seems to berate a couple who was disappointed that the master bathroom was shared by all the bedrooms on the second floor. Her comment, “I have never heard of a semi-en suite bathroom being a deal breaker! Live and learn!” How condescending. I also don’t trust her ethics with her guidance on offer amount. Her goal is far from getting her clients the property they want at the best price.

Ok, I wasn’t going to comment but this is getting out of hand. I’m sure my comment will probably be lost in the sea of negativity, but I’m posting it anyway.

From reading the derisive, negative, and inflammatory comments on this site and others, it is clear to me that they are the workings of one or two deranged individuals with a serious ax to grind against Sandra. Just look at the writing style and if you read carefully, you can see that many of them are almost word for word on all the same sites…just with a different name attached at times. Whatever the reason is, I don’t know but you need to get some serious psychiatric treatment and spend your time doing things more positive than posting multiple times under multiple names in your efforts to drum up hatred for her.

BTW, if you google “can’t stand Sandra Rinomato,” only SIX results show up and I can guarantee it’s the same person posting here, so there isn’t the sea of hatred against this woman that you so desperately want there to be.

Anyway, I understand that this is a complaint site, but if you’re going to complain about someone, take the time to get your facts straight. It is completely off-base to say that Sandra is a horrible realtor. Her successful business and all her awards (including the 2007 Stevie award for Best Canadian Entrepreneur) prove otherwise. As for the first comment that implies she had to do some unsavory things to get to where she is in real life, you are beyond reprehensible and you have no basis for making such repulsive comments about a woman you don’t know in real life. She is a TV presenter on Property Virgins and that is the persona you are seeing, and it’s unfair to base your opinion of her professional ethics in real life on that. Unless you have evidence or examples in REAL LIFE of Sandra behaving as a realtor in the manner that YOU (btw, this is your opinion only) deem inappropriate from the show, then every single one of your complaints on this site and others are completely unfounded.

The things you are complaining about are part of the basic premise of the show and these would not change regardless of whether Sandra or another realtor was the host. Having the clients go in by themselves, standing outside, the comments about what they think (which are VOICEOVER, btw), having them guess the price, taking them to a neighborhood well above their price range…these are all show-sanctioned and not Sandra’s doing on her own. Like I said, unless you know any of her real life clients and they say she does or has done these things, then you have no room to attribute them to her profession as a realtor because that is just her TV persona. In the beginning episodes, before she told them to go inside to get their own impressions. you could hear her sometimes say something like, “This is how it works,” which means this is how the SHOW works.

Also, Sandra is not taking any jobs away from a single American and I say this as one. If you had taken the time to do a little research on the show or read the stories of people who have been on it, you would see that when Sandra is in the US, she does not receive ANY commission. She only gets paid for doing the show. There are local realtors behind the scenes who are getting the commission and taking care of all the legalities. Sandra is not misrepresenting herself either. Have you ever heard her say when she’s in the US, “Let me get with my team?” BTW, once the credits roll at the end of the episodes, you can see the local realtors thanked, so they are getting acknowledged.

As for the comments about wanting to “punch her in the face,” “smash her face in,” etc., you seriously need to be locked up and you should be careful what you say because those comments could land you in some serious trouble. I do not get your level of vitriol for this woman. She does not deserve it. I could understand if she were someone like Perez Hilton, Elizabeth Hasselbeck, or Rush Limbaugh–whose goal is to smear and harm others–but she’s not. I believe she is a genuinely good person who tries to help people. If someone isn’t sugar-coating things, you want to label her as a bitch but my take on her TV persona is that she is blunt but nice, funny, caring, sassy, and incredibly smart. I’ve seen her comfort, reassure, and encourage several of the property virgins.

I saw a comment upthread that complained about Sandra reducing young clients to “tears.” If it’s the Cheryl Lou-Hing episode, you can clearly see Sandra put her hand on the girl’s arm once she starts crying and then she gives her a hug and you can hear her say, “I’m sorry” under her voiceover. So this shows you that Sandra does have a heart and did realize that perhaps she came across a little too strongly with her statements. But of course, you conveniently leave that out in your attempts to smear her reputation.

Sandra Rinomato is someone to be admired. She had very risky open heart surgery back in 2004, so for her to fully recover and take on the demands of doing a TV show (which is one of the highest ranked shows on HGTV) is amazing. She is a survivor, fighter, and inspiration to everyone. She also donates her time and money to various charities and organizations and has done so for many years, even before she was ever on TV.

So save your vitriol for someone who actually deserves it, not Sandra Rinomato.

And before you accuse me of it, no I am not related to Sandra nor do I work for the show. I am just someone smart enough to do my research before running off and attacking someone on the basis of ridiculous, hateful unfounded conclusions.

The comments made on this site make me cry and I think humanity has sunk to a new level. I’m a Real Estate Broker and I’m appalled at the mean, nasty comments of so called “people”. Sandra is with a top notched real estate company, she looks great, and it’s a TV show which is fairly close to how it goes…I love it and my husband who is a former real estate broker loves it too. Yes I did see the episode where Sandra brought that young Asian woman to tears. The only reason she made a kind jester afterwards was to try and repair the damage and not because she has a kind heart. Get it right. She had no choice, what else could she do, just stand there? She was just trying to cover her ass.
I hate the show. She always takes people to these expensive neighborhoods first and tells them how retarded their expectations are. Sometimes she’ll tell the buyers the homes are already priced where they should be wouldn’t go any lower but buyers insisted and ended up getting the house for 15k less than the asking price. Oh yeah she’s a good realtor.

The fact is, Sandra is very rude to her clients. Even if the show has a format to fallow she doesn’t have to come across the way she does.

She is awesome! It’s a tv show folks. As a recent first-time home buyer, we realize this show is over-simplified but she does point out the common mistakes new homebuyers make, including us. For example, wanting too much for the price we can’t afford.

I really have to laugh at this blog.. the immature, bad language used for a television show which is nothing mor ethan entertainment. This takes me back to the study about Liberals vs. Conservatives. If a conservative wants to be a vegitarian, they do not eat meat, but if a liberal wants to be a vegetarian, then NO ONE SHOULD EAT MEAT.. wow.. Sandra spends her time with idiot children who have visions of glory but dont want to save or work hard to obtain that vision. She MUST get their focus back on track.. and the exercise of showing them houses they WANT but cannot AFFORD is a grouding experiece and will make them strive for more in their life. The concept is beautiful.. she executes it flawlessly.. Letting them walk through ALONE is the best way for them to form unbiased options.. not some spin from a seller wanting a comission.. the lessons are learned the hard way.. and letting the client find their way is the only way to reach peace.. But let’s face it, what real estate agents aren’t greedy slobs who show you their ‘best offer’ and tell you there’s nothing else, before finally asking you to raise the price again.

I have read everyone of these reply’s with the exception of one that was more of a short story and obviously written by either an internet troll or personal friend of Sandra.
I’m neither a realtor nor a broker; just an ordinary guy who happened to see today’s episode and was moved to express an opinion. Like others I googled her name and found this site.
I can see from reading these posts and posts from other boards that there has been ongoing antagonistic response stemming back to Sandra’s first year on the show.
Therefore I don’t agree this is a one or two man show. I found this woman to be obnoxious, rude and haughtily arrogant.
My first impression if you will. If my realtor were to mimic even the slightest resemblance of Sandra Rinomato I would fire her on the spot.
I’m not buying into the “this is only a tv show” scenario as I found her to be rude, crude and socially unacceptable in any society.

Yes I was appalled by what I just watched, so much so I was compelled to file a complaint.
The young home buyers must have told Sandra three times how much they wanted to spend on a home but they were continually shown or I should say pushed into 3 homes that were way above what they wanted to pay.
All the time being told not to focus on the asking price but what the monthly payment would be.
Unbelievable!
What kind of realtor is she?
Another thing I noticed is how she would criticize the home buyers if they happen not to like the house.
What Sandra doesn’t seem to get is that a home can have everything you asked for but still you just don’t like it. She needs to learn how to respect that.
You know I have purchased 22 homes in my years, mostly for investment purposes and I have never once been asked to guess the price or made to do a solo walk through without my agent.
I don’t know who came up with that concept but it’s diffidently not the way it works in the real world.
As far as her attire goes, she is way too chunky to be wearing those tight ass jeans. I’m sure she must be in her early 50’s and it just looks ridiculous.
Her teeth, common man get them fixed. Do you really think a big space between your teeth goes unnoticed? Think again.
This woman has to go. Too old, too ugly and too pushy!

have mixed reactions about this show. I think it is a good concept on paper, but the way it plays out is that it is almost as much about how the host uses passive aggressive criticism to “save the idiot newbies”. It’s almost like everyone except the people spending the money is in on a practical joke.

I find it funny watching Sandra become professionally threatened when a couple says they don’t believe a garage could be built on the lot and she says something like, “I’m telling you that there is enough room!”
She really sucks!

I commented once a while back and have been getting the hateful comments ever since with some here and there that like Sandra AS WELL. It is sad to see that someone took the time to create this blog AND even more sad to see those who come on here to bash a successful relator who happens to have a TV show!! I too googled sandra rinomato and got to this page. I am amazed of the comments about her. I think she is a good realtor but some of her comments to her clients are a bit over the top, and sorry but her tight fitting pants are not happening, only twice have I seen her in a skirt and she looked good. I like her show but like some of the people here on this site have said, I agree that at times she seems a bit rude and a bit crude. When my 2nd wife and I were shopping for a home in Texas about 7 years ago, she was nothing like Sandra, she was a good listener and she let us voice our opinions about each home; but then again, we all have our own personalities and Sandra is on TV so we all have our opinions about her.

There is nothing worse than a lousy actor trying to act. It’s like looking at someone with a bad hair piece. It makes you feel uncomfortable just to look at them.

Sandra Rino comes across as a phony and a fake. I would think Coldwell bank would have paid for a few acting lessons before putting her in front of the camera.

I was upstairs and I heard a very disturbing sound. At first I thought my kid were watching Alvin and the Chipmunks but to my surprise it was this overweight women wearing very tight jeans with a big gap between her teeth.

I was so disturbed with how she was talking to a potential buyer I decided to Google her and found this site. I can see she has quite a rep. I think she‘s a lousy realtor with a lousy disposition.

I saw a show or two. I can’t say I enjoyed watching her call people being “too picky” or “typical property virgins” simply because they just didn’t like the house. They have to live there while she tuck tail and runs back to Canada.

It’s really too bad that some of these so-called “Rino Fans” (probably personal friends or co-workers) still don’t get the message.
I saw an episode where the Rino was closing in on the kill on an old beaten up house these two black ladies were looking at. They didn’t like anything about it and pretty much told the Rino to her face they could talk all night but it wasn’t going to change anything
These sisters had a very strong conviction and were not going to let no tight-ass-jean wearing Rino intimidate them into buying anything they didn’t like.
Rino Lesson number 1. Just because a house may physically have everything you are wanting there could still just be something about it you just don’t like.
End of the story. On to the next one.
But for the Rino she has to take a walk with one her crony camera men and trash talk the buyers refering to them as Typical Virgins. What an insult.
If you have apologized for a dirty kept house you’ve already aced yourself out of the sale.
If the seller won’t take the time to hire a professional cleaning company to come in and do a really thorough cleaning before an open house than that just tell you how they take care of the house under no pressure.
One more thing. With today’s HD TV’s I would strongly suggest that someone tell the Rino we can see every single ling that shows up around her lips and mouth. With the right expression she’s a dead ringer for the wicked witch or the west. Use a thicker past, use dirty-wall putty but do something about those age lines particularly around your lips and checks.
And do something about your teeth, you scaring my children, seriously. As you would say Rino, these are things you can change” loll!
On and by the way Rino, Know one is going to mistake you for a hot 30 or even 40 year old so why don’t know save money by some cloths the actually fit.
Then God willing you can get those teeth fixed or have a friend of your kid stick some soft wood between the gaps and then paint it a kind of yellowish cream color.

To make grand claims about her competency without REALLY knowing what is going on is absurd. Really people, television is not real life. Do we really have to continually explain that?

When she is showing them 2 crappy houses on the lower end of their budget she is showing them what kind of house on the lower end of their budget will get them amd furthermore a $300000 home in Toronto isn’t going to be the same as a $300000 home in Atlanta and even if they buy a home that is $100000 over their budget that doesn’t mean they will pay a high mortgage every month and sometimes those might be the only homes available and another thing one episode with crappy, unrealistic, superficial, snobbish buyers DOES NOT and I mean DOES NOT summarize every other show.

Get over yourselves. Everyone has different tastes and likes. Don’t watch if you are so replused by it. However, I notice that all you haters know a lot of details about the show.. makes me wonder if your hating is an outlet for some kind of personal frustration.

I think Sandra is great and has a tremendous personality and wish some of lazy agents I deal with were half as savvy as her. the show has a spefic format- guessing is part of the game and shows the fact that she’s dealing with “virgins”.
Sandra looks great as she is and proves that you don’t need some unrealistic barbie real estate agent with little inteligence (such as Kendra in my property’s worth what?) to bring in viewers.

We watch Sandra all the time from our home in Trinidad ( Caribbean)

I hope she never has to read these viscious personal attacks.

As for the other cities she practicies in - clealry you hater-fools miss the poret where she talks about getting back to her “team” to close any deals or get comparables in these cities. For crying out loud, the woman has done a fundraiser for the past two years to raise money for Toronto General Hospital and the doctors who saved her life in efforts to “support research of two deadly diseases: heart failure and a lung condition called pulmonary hypertension.” You don’t have to be a “personal friend” of Sandra’s to know this, just someone who has a brain in their head and knows how to use a search engine. It appears you possess neither quality. Oh, and she also talks about having the open heart surgery and pulmonary hypertension in her book that she wrote, too.

All offers are accepted because she never offers anything less than asking price. If these property virgins only knew they would bypass her. As someone who has bought and sold many homes I would never hire Sandra, I don’t think she could handle not being ‘in charge’ and actually working for her commission. I don’t like Sandra because she makes every effort to force someone to go over their budget. Most people who are pre-approved for a certain amount want to stay within that limit, so why is she adding their down payment. I would never want her to be my realtor and personally, how did she get a show? She doesn’t care about these people, all she sees is commission. Please, give this show to someone who isn’t trying to have more people fall into foreclosure. She is a terrible, terrible person

We own many properties, have many friends who are realtors, and are educated, professional people. First, the positives. I love the fact she lets them in first-very fair and private, the way I love to look at houses. Guessing the price is , at best, entertaining(can you say TV show). But I’m watching an episode now about a couple looking at a property near Toronto and there is a “train” in the backyard. When the wife mentions that is her setback-Sandra says”I’m not going to lie to you-the train is noisey”. Typical rocket science statement-but does it mean “I’ve lied to you before??” Almost always condescending-most important-tends to place people in the maximum they can afford if not over a comfortable budget. Some of these prices make me cringe. Can you say “HOUSE POOR”? Get the commission, get the commission-Show should not be called property virgins-should be “Realtor Sharks are us”! Seems to always force putting in offers because it’s a “real hot property”. If it’s property virgin, how about telling people about closing costs, mold in basements, old plumbing, and also the HOA fees are always minimized by Sandra-hello, that’s why so many condos are for sale, first time buyers are blowing thousands on HOAs and not realizing that beforehand. Sandra, if you really cared, help these people. The saddest thing about this show is the red faces these property virgins have when she puts down what they say. I really have to say she has a bully streak. She’s the kind of girl in high school that you dreaded to see coming down the hall because she was sure to insult you in some way or another. I never feel good after I watch the show. Just very nauseous.

It’s amazing how many people feel Sandra the so-called realtor needs be called out on her unruly behavior.
I too have a problem with some of the sales tactics she uses to close a deal. From the phony phone calls from the other agents to the bully like approach. As far as I’m concerned there are no stupid questions when it comes to spending 100K plus on a house.
One episode in particular comes to mind when a couple had asked specifically for a house with a garage. Sandra shows them not one but two homes with “no” garage and then had the audacity to suggest they build for as little 10 grand.
When the wife expresses that the property didn’t seem big enough Sandra replies in a sharp and threatening tone “I’m telling you the property is big enough!”
There was another episode where the wife who was only about 5’ tall told Sandra that she didn’t like the house. Sandra then elevated herself on the balls of her foot staring down on the woman with a look that could kill and says “oh really.”
Even as the husband started to elaborate Sandra’s eyes stayed glued to his wife as if she was trying to stare her down. The camera then switched over to the woman and I’m telling you she looked petrified. Is this what you call a caring and wonderful realtor?
It just makes me wonder how she managed to stay on for 2 seasons. I do intend to write a strongly worded letter to Coldwell Bank regarding the multitude of what I call very unprofessional conduct.
I just started watching the show and realize some or most of these episodes are from last year or beyond but really don’t care. This woman needs to go.
So far I haven’t seen any 2010 episodes so maybe she’s already been fired.

I will just add a few opinions I have and would like to share.
Now I know this is only a TV show and under any other circumstances would not be taken so seriously.

The difference here is we the people are being asked to suffer through an absurd, pitiful and inadequate example of the realstate process.

I see no entertainment value in watching a women in her 50’s force unwanted intentions and play guessing games with the first time home buyers.
Sandra Rinomato manages to control and play upon the inexperienced home buyers by using unfair and insidious means only to her own advantage.
Her tactics are shrewd and cunning and it doesn’t take a genius to see through her little act. I too would like to write a letter to her Superiors and share with them the offensive taste she leaves in my mouth after each show.

I don’t know what it is; there is just something about this woman that is really annoying.
With today’s HD TV’s you can’t hide much which is why a little cosmetic help can go a long way.
There is no excuse for unsightly wrinkles around your lips and eyes, huge gaps between your two front teeth or trying to stuff a large body into a tiny pair of jeans.

I really enjoy the show and I do think Sandra really does a good job. I recently sold my house and wish I had known about this program before hand as it would have helped me immensely. There are so many “little” things that future owners look for - also I advise getting your own inspection prior to selling. Then it can be compared to the one the new future owners will show you - believe me, there could be a big difference as not all inspectors are honest. Also I had the city evaluation, my own evaluation and the future owner’s evaluation and all were different - especially the potential new owners… they had it evaluation way way below my two evaluations. Real Estate can be very tricky and I do think Sandra does an excellent job.

I would love to see how any you would fair on the (now defunk) Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. The point is this is not a runway, and we all have physical attributes that others don’t find attractive. Get over it.

I find her to be professional and not condescending in the slightest. I find some of the people she deals with rather unreasonable and am repeatedly amazed at how she keeps her cool. I wish I had someone like her as my first real estate agent, for she would have taught me a lot more about the process.

I have no affiliation with the show, nor am I a personal friend of Sandra. Face it, she has plenty of fans too.

Personally, as a realtor myself, I think she is brilliant.

Firstly, she listens and responds well to what her clients needs and wants are. Secondly, she quickly establishes what is an acceptable/affordable price range for them. The reason she makes them guess isn’t to embarrass them, but to help them level-set their expectations, which can be EXTREMELY difficult with first time buyers. As far as being rude, I’ve seen several episodes where she is clearly biting her tongue, and yes, she can be assertive, but that’s exactly what you want in a realtor: someone who will fight for you.
Her success alone is proof of her qualities as a realtor.

All you people making comments about her weight/appearance, etc.; I would love to see what your wife or girlfriend looks like. In terms of the show, it’s just that: a TV show. The majority of this show, like most “reality” shows, is staged. Do you really think any realtor is going to show a buyer only three houses and say “these are your only three options; take ‘em or leave ‘em”? They’re taking hours and hours of footage shot over weeks and sometimes months, and editing it down to 22 minutes. In regard to the way she talks to people, you do realize these are all people that have seen the show before and applied to be on it, right? It’s not like they started looking for a realtor and had the misfortune of “getting stuck” with Sandra.

Obviously Sandra generates a lot of passion, both good and bad. I am wondering why the folks who hate her watch the show. They must be drawn to her in the same way the folks who love her are drawn to her, which makes for FABULOUS TV, and super high ratings! She is on prime time M, W & F in my area and I look forward to watching every night!! For the “fans” that don’t get it, the entry into the first “mystery” neighborhood gives the viewers and home buyers an idea of what they are getting into in the buyer’s favorite neighborhood… in that area of the country where they are home searching. Sandra apparently asks the potential buyers to meet her in their favorite area to give them perspective into what they are getting into. She is helping them set expectations. Maybe the folks who hate Sandra should watch a few more shows to understand the flow of the show, which is VERY entertaining. My only wish is that Sandra takes the show on the road more often - USA & Europe - so we can see more than the Canadian housing market. She will have to get an international Realtor involved, but that would make for excellent TV as well.

Ever thought that maybe it was supposed to be that way to get the audience involved in the show? Also what is up with the spying comments? She doesn’t “spy”, she lets them go into the houses and then the comments are edited in… I agree she can be kind of rude at times but she’s just doing it to give her clients a reality check. That is SO much less annoying than the real estate agents who are fake and feel like they are trying to scam you.

I have never seen a more obnoxious and irritating woman in my life. I’m a new comer to HGTV network and saw the show for the first time last night. I just kept thinking about how repulsive this realtor was and decided to Google her.
I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised to see so many people feeling the same way my only question is why she’s still on the air. If my realtor spoke to me in her tone she would get a swift slap across her face.

They should start the show with a warning such as “some parts of this show may be disturbing to watch, parental guidance is advised”

She’s a little off-putting because she has her nose up in the air and acts as if first-time homebuyers are total idiots. Sometimes they are, but more often than not. I’m getting ready to buy my first place and I’ve researched things a lot so I feel a little insulted by her haughty ways. BUT other than that I really like the show.
Oh, one other thing that annoys me is that you never get to see the homes after the people have bought it and rearranged it, like in House Hunters.

As an experienced homebuyer (of multiple homes), i would not use this Sandra realtor from “property virgins” if she was the last realtor on earth.
SHe is absolutely patronizing, demoralizing, manipulative (ie–having the homebuyers essentially “fall in love” with the home before she “pops” the price on them).
A realtor should have all the details on a home available for the buyer before they even step foot inside a prospective home. And yes the PRICE should be part of those MLS details given to the buyer.
The fact that she takes “Property Virgins” on “Tour” of more expensive homes first (even when its beyond their bank approval) as a tactic to “warming up” the buyers to spend close to or exactly the amount they are approved for, is downright obscene.
If i am approved for $500K and want to spend no more than 300K i shouldn’t have to deal with manipulative games from my realtor in order to bring me closer to spending 500K so that she can get a fatter commission check.
Some realtors play this game in order to get the most they can in commission for themselves. It’s so sad that “property virgins” are oblivious to that fact.

HGTV tapes her when she’s negotiating, and they almost certainly have her recorded breaking real estate regulations. I wish she’d get busted. She’s offensive.

If anything, get her to show you houses just to waste her time. I’d love to see her on a show called, “Property Veterans”. I’d like to see her pull her pressure tactics on someone with some experience.

I like the show but, Sandra’s condescending and talks down to her clients over and over again. I just watched an episode with the firefighter and his wife looking for a home in Dallas/Fort Worth. She has to the nerve to make a comment about how much money they can afford, saying, “oh we’ll look at the homes you are willing to spend your money on…oh I mean how much you ARE ABLE spend”. Okay it doesn’t sound as bad as reading what I just typed, but the way she said it on the show was rude. I think the show would be better without this lady. There was also an episode with the young Asian girl and her mother. Could Sandra have been any more rude or stereotypical? People come from different cultures. So what if Asian folks are superstitious. I’m sure there’s many things Canadians do that are different from other cultures. Rolling her eyes, making the girl cry? Come on, lady. I have never bought a house and I am far from clueless. She is NOT an economist & demonstrates she knows nothing about the fundamentals that determine what house prices should be in an area. Sandra IS the clueless one. The housing market has become one big ponzi scheme and prices with fall back in line with incomes. She tries to push people into these overpriced homes without even looking what will happen to the economy in the future. Only about one quarter of people can really afford a home over 200k, so it is not delusional to expect more than a crap box when you are paying that or more. She is still living in 2005 and is in denial of the currently housing situation.

I am firmly on the side of those who find Sandra Rinomato offensive. She really is a one-trick pony. From the first moment, she throws questions at these usually young and somewhat clueless buyers. “What do you think of this?” “What do you think the price is?”, etc., ad nauseum. As the poster above pointed out, if a buyer turns it around and asks her outright what the price is, she just refuses to tell them until they guess. And if you watch her face carefully, you will see very subtle and brief looks of anger cross her face when the buyers aren’t playing her way.

Just yuck. She is an unpleasant, fake, and very pushy saleswoman. Buyers beware!

I do have to say, it is quite interesting the way the Canadians say the word “obout”, to where it sounds like “aboat”, to us in the States.
As fun and interesting it is to watch, it is very hard to understand the way it is taped. For instance, when the home buyers wait for a call from her and the camera is always right there when the call comes in (lol). And on the other end, there she is in her car making the call. Or other times when they may be walking down a street and get a call from her and the next scene may show her at her desk. It’s obviously staged and when they attempt to tie it all together the entire show falls way short of the realism they are trying to project. Someone above said something about looking at Sandra was like looking at a man with a bad hair piece. I thought that was hilarious but truly I get that same feeling when I see these unlikely scenarios’ unfold.

It’s called television, for one; all of the shows on HGTV and others are rehearsed, and the producers are usually telling the presenters how to act and what to say.

Secondly, if you dislike it so much, then why do you bother watching it to the point of getting riled up enough as to go ranting on the internet about it? Over-sensitive much?

What’s wrong with her trying to educate people through getting them to do that thing called thinking? Ever try it? Teachers do it daily in everyday educational settings, pointedly give students something to give their opinions about, to think about, before correcting them first. Her having them guess the prices and taking them to overpriced locations is to educate them and give a reality check, which clearly many of the people on the show with such high expectations need.

Who seriously thinks that a home and garden channel needs to have anything but average-looking people, and has to feel the need to rag about a person who is just that–average looking? People with low self-esteem, that’s who, and one’s who are likely just as average at best. It’s a pretty sad world when people rag on the looks of a freaking real estate agent. This isn’t Hollywood, people.

Clearly the woman’s doing something right if you all are still watching the show. Or maybe you just like to have something to complain about on a daily basis? Get a life.

this site is a riot. thanks for the entertainment folks, especially the people complaining about the people complaining!?!?! everyone on this thread should smoke a bowl and watch property virgins and appreciate that comedy for what it is.

and while Sandra is certainly no looker, I would certainly pee in her butt given the chance!

even in my old age I still fall victim to trolls every now and then. Oh well, back to what this thread is about, and that is Sandra Hate.

I have absolutely noticed that as well. She cant even hide it in her face. She seems totally profit driven to me, always trying to negotiate the highest she thinks her clients will pay, usually over the asking amount because of some percieved “hotness” of the property.

I watched an episode where a couple had flown to the US I think to buy a house, put in an offer, and had not heard back before they were headed home. She advised them at that point to submit another offer with their absolute top price, which they did. Is that really sound advice seeing as how the seller had not responsed yet? I dont know, but to me its not. There were not even other offers on the property that I was aware of.

Im closing on my first house in 4 weeks and if I had a realtor like this to begin with, im not sure I would be where I am today.

I CANT STAND THIS WOMEN!!!! SHE IS NOT UPBEAT AT ALL AND SHE MAKES THE BUYERS LOOK LIKE IDIOTS! INSTEAD OF EDUCATING THEM SHE JUST REPEATS HERSELF. I simply dont like Sandra and thought this would be a place of like minded individuals. I was right for the most part, but trolls exist on every site so no biggie.

As far as reading about me in the news.. nice try at a childish attempt tp demonize me. To make such a statement based on words on 1 thread is beyond preposterous to say the least. Espcecially a vent thread.

People like you are the reason I am making the leap into owning my own property. I have lived next to crazy ladies like you that clutch their purses when a person of darker skin walk by. Get a grip on yourself and stop trying to encite unfound fears. Unlike others in this thread I have never indicated a hint of violence towards Sandra or any other posters.

Im just saying if something scared me as much as I scare you I would avoid it, not engage it. Just sayin.
