I had my hair done in Aug 18, 2008 at Regis by a stylist at 4750 North Division
Spokane, WA 99207. I brought a photo of the haircut I always get. I told the stylist to trim only 1 inch. I ended up with very choppy, not blended hair that was cut off over 2 inches! It looked like when a young child attempts to cut their own hair. I returned the next day requesting another stylist to fix it and she ended up trimming my hair even more to try to remove the “shelves” and trimmed my bangs - which I had never had before - uneven where one side was 3/4 an inch longer!
I returned the next day, receiving a full refund and proceeded to Fantastic Sam’s where they did fix it the best they could with what they had to work with. In the end my hair is over 3 inches shorter and I have short bangs! I had to purchase a new curling iron since my barrel was too large for my new 3 - 7 inches of choppy layers. I have NEVER had such a horrific haircut in my 30 years of professional stylists. As I am telling my story to other people, they have told me of their own bad experience with Regis Salons. While she was styling my hair some young man came in wanting a haircut. He specified to have my stylist but was told she did not have time for a walk-in. He insisted on her so they told him to come back at 4:15. My color, cut, style and waxing began at 2:00. She finished at 3:45. I suspect she hurried so she would have time to trim this handsome young man whom many of the stylists apparently knew. My family will never use Regis again and I will tell my story to anyone willing to hear it. I have more faith in the abilities of a professional at Great Cuts, Fantastic Sam’s and the like than the unprofessional stylist your corporation employs.

I work for a Regis and your story is common. I have seen people get hired right out of beauty school and terrible schools at that just let loose on the salon floor to cut and color away telling their new client that they have been doing this for years. While in the mean time exceptional stylist get a bad wrap. I truly believe that they don’t care who they hire but more of -the more they employ the more they make because we are on a very low commissions scale with high hopes of an increase but never getting one. I went to an extermely good school which is Vidal Sassoon accredited and can run circles around the people I work with. They have constant color and cut corrections. They are never demoted or told to get further education. It sadens me because those of us who have a true passion for hair take the hit because our salons are being labeled in such bad ways. At the same time a guy I work with and myself steadily keep building clients which is what all stylists want to go out on their own. The name Regis used to be seperate from SuperCuts or whatever the local chop shop was but the more and more I see, it’s quantity not quality. I am very sorry for your experience. Please know this- the salon doesn’t make the hairdesigner, the hairdesigner makes the salon.. Take care and I hope you find a stylist that knocks your socks off with an amazing style… Brandice

your biggest mistake is going to a chain type of salon. experiences like this are very common and you honestly should’ve know better. do research and go to a salon a friend you trust recommends and ask to see a portfolio of their work.

I too had my hair mutilated at a Regis Salon. It will take a year for my hair to grow back when all I wanted was a trim. I don’t know why someone with any amount of intelligence doesn’t know that an inch isn’t eight inches and doesn’t know how to cut a bob. The very first haircut that you learn in beauty school. I talked to some snotty a–hole from Regis executive and she told me I should have had the manager to fix it. There is no fixing when you hair is cut to the scalp. There will one day be an incident at Regis; and personally the dumb a– that cut my hair….well I hope she gets the crap slapped out of her.

Its not about what salon you go to in the sense of corporate, booth rent, etc. It’s also not about what you pay; I’ve seen salons that hire girls right out of cosmo school and allow them to charge 50-60 for haircuts with little or no training and claim to be a high-end salon. At one time, I was one of their stylists. I currently work at Supercuts, make bomb money, and every customer leaves satisfied. I fix haircuts from “high end salons” all the time. For the most part, it’s about word of mouth, there are awesome stylists and there are bad stylists, anfd there are those that lack education. Ask your friends who have fabulous hair where they got it done, and that is how you will find the diamond in the ruff.

That is why you should find a stylist that you are comfortable with and do not change unless you have to. If you change stylists you are bound to get a bad one or two. I graduated from a high end school. I have seen people graduating and they are great and I have seen others not being able to do a one length cut.
