We live in a country where only the extermists speak their voice. The passive middle says nothing and moves along.
But our country has turned into a place where the smallest things make the biggest news.
So let’s take a look at what we really value in this country and put things that matter first. Is dog fighting bad, yes, is it illegal yes, is it worth 6 years in prison, not when a man only gets 5 years in prison for child molestation on a 4 year old. (Source)
When a man who steals $20 from a gas station with a gun gets a longer sentence than a man who embezzles $20 million from his investors, the legal system in our nation needs to be reevaluated.
We need to step back, forget about celebrities, they’re people just like us, just because celebrity X did drugs doesn’t mean we must all point them out. Just punish them, and move on. Don’t go easy on them, make it quick and appropriate and move on. Stop looking to the famous to be role models for yourself and your kids. You wouldn’t trust your unfamous neighbor to be a role model for your kids, not necessarily anyway.
Do your job as a parent, and don’t punish the “famous” for being regular people. If you asked yourself truthfully, have i never stolen, lied to an authority figure, cheated, broke the law, hit another person…etc. How many of you do you honostly think could actually truthfully answer yes. When you were kids, you probably did that several times, people do that, should we just accept it no, but we shouldn’t hold others to an ideal that doesn’t exist.
That’s it folks, focus on fixing the problems at home, not fixing problems you can’t do anything about.
