My Biggest Complaint About People Who Put On Their Blinkers Getting On The Highway

What’s the point? It’s pretty obvious there is nowhere else you can go.

In my mind I always mock someone merging with their blinker on by saying “gee thanks, without that blinker i would never known you were coming and would have slammed right into you”.

Someone mentioned that this is actually a law, but I can’t imagine why. Anyone else heard of this being a law?

  1. Merging onto the highway is considered a lane change, and as such should be signaled.

Besides, I would rather have someone signal too often than not at all. Way too many people think the driver behind them has ESP and knows they are changing lanes

  2. I would tend to agree that you should use your signal…too many people are unaware of merging traffic…speeding up to keep you out…whatever…signals would be a good addition

  3. so, i’m alone in that when i’m in the traveling lane coming up on an on ramp and see a large piece of machinery is enough to know that a car is coming on to the highway ?

I’ll bet you guys are the people who try to merge with your blinkers on at 30mph, cuz that’s the case almost every time =P.

All sarcasm aside, i use my blinkers liberally and feel people should do so as well… it’s just the highways things that gets me…

  4. dDub, you are alone.

  5. I almost complained about people who don’t use their blinker when they get on the interstate. If you are dealing with a cloverleaf entrance/exit ramp situation, cars can go two ways - off or on, from the same lane. The only real way to tell what’s going on is to use a turn signal.

It becomes a little less important when there is only one lane for someone getting on the interstate, but even in that situation you at least have an idea of what the driver is going to do.

Now, people who don’t turn their blinkers off after they’re on the interstate… that’s a whole different complaint for another day.

Of course, because if they didn’t have their blinker on, one may assume they would merge off the highway and a poor ‘lil racoon may be in danger =P

  7. Yeah well some people are really dumb and think that no blinker = no merge then two cars try to occupy the same space at the same time and with our reality that does not work well. So yeah do the blinker thing be curtious to merging traffice remember you have the right of way not the merging car but let em in it makes traffic flow better and speeds everyone up.

The thing that really irks me is when you put your blinker on and the guy in the lane beside you and behind you speeds up to keep you from the lane change.
