I HATE the half pot of coffee. For many different reasons, as well. BUT, my point is that if you make a half pot of coffee using the same amount of coffee grounds, the coffee winds up too strong. Think about this... When you brew a normal pot, let's say you use two scoops of coffee grounds with a full pot of water. The first few cups of water passing through the grounds will come out with a very very strong flavor from the grounds. But the last few cups will not be as strong because a larger amount of flavor came out at the beginning. So the strong half at the beginning mixed with a weak half at the end makes for a perfect pot. When you use two scoops of grounds and only a half pot of water, you don't get to enjoy the proper strength and flavor. ARGGGHHHH!!!!!!

I say all this as I'm sitting at work waiting for the half pot of coffee my coworker just put on to be ready for me. I really don't understand her reasoning for doing this. What would it hurt to have too much coffee here? This is a lady who throws away soda cans and newspapers, so she's not trying to conserve. I don't get it. I don't get it. I don't get it.

Just to let you guys know, coffee has a very short shelf life as is. When you brew it and leave it sitting while waiting for someone to be enticed by the sweet caffeinated aroma of the fresh brew, the coffee loses is usually sweet taste and turns into bitter crap. Also, it burns, which also leads to bitter crap.

I used to brew a full pot when I lived in a studio apartment by myself. I was convinced it would magically make people stop by for a cup. I wasted a lot of coffee in those days.

This happens all the time at work and will drive you nuts. It is completely inconsiderate to make less a full pot of coffee at work.

You smell the coffee brewing. Walk down the hall and see your co-worker pouring the last drop of a 3 cup batch into their over-sized coffee mug. They stare up and you and say, "Oh, I'm sorry Cubicle-Boy, I only made enough for me. I didn't think anybody else would want any."
