My Biggest Complaint About People And Cell Phones While Driving

Why does everyone think they can drive and talk on a cell phone at the same time? Because they are idiots! It is dangerous and the cause of many accidents. If people could get the phones away from their ears and pay attention to their driving there would not be as many accidents.

Of course, in an emergency for an accident or such, the cell phone is put to good use. The invention of cell phones is wonderful but has given people too much license in their usage. Riding in the car and listening to the radio, to me, is much more pleasurable than yaking on the phone. I can’t imagine being on the phone all the time. What a drag!!

  1. How exactly does a piece of plastic cause accidents?

Not paying attention can contribute to an accident.

Since you are so eager to eliminate talking on cells, I would assume you are equally eager to place all drivers in sound proof enclosures so they can’t talk to other passengers or listen to the radio, both of which cause more distractions then cell phones. Don’t believe me? Check out another vehicle (when someone else is driving of course) that contains a bunch of children and see how distracted that driver is.

Oh wait, you listen to the radio. I would guess you also talk to your passengers… Better not tell your insurance agent!

Just because some people have a single cell brain and can not walk and chew bubble gum at the same time does not mean everyone else has the same handicap.

  2. I’ve been in several incidents where some fool on the road jacking their jaws on a phone stuck to their face pulled over onto me at high speed, no blinker, no looking in the mirror, NOTHING!
I use a headset in my car/truck, I commute an hour to work every day, and it’s nice to be able to get in the car and talk while driving if you’re planning things before you get home, but I pay attention to the road more than I do the phone. It’s a law here, you get caught yapping on the phone without a hands-free option, the officer can willingly give you a ticket with a fine of up to $100, BUT THEY NEVER DO IT!!!
People nowadays don’t pay attention to what they are doing, much less in the car. If it’s not the cellphones, it’s the loud ass music that nobody else wants to hear.

  3. I’m not sure about everyone else, but I find it much easier to drive and talk on a cell phone than to drive and eat a big mac, fries, and drink. I can use at least one hand when driving while talking, but when I’m eating in the car, I usually drive with a knee on the steering wheel. Now, I don’t see how making a law against using cell phones while driving makes more sense than making a law against eating while driving. I feel much more distracted when eating and driving, especially when I’m digging for napkins in the bag after I drip ketchup on my shirt. Other things that are more distracting that cell phones: CD players (especially if you have a remote, I drop mine all the time while driving), iPods (constantly searching through songs), Passenger pets (dogs, cats, ferrets), and Children. Of all the distractions in my car, I think my cell phone is the least distracting distraction. I agree that having a law against using cell phones probably does cut down on accidents. However, there should also be laws against drive thru windows, passengers, pets, and radio. Oh, and smoking. I don’t smoke so I forgot about that, but I can’t see how smoking is less distracting that talking on a cell phone. Plus I can’t stand it when people throw theirs butts out at me.

  4. Cell phones while driving aren’t dangerous. Getting BJ while driving, thats dangerous.

  5. Smoking eating cell phone use and getting a BJ are all bad while driving.
Especially if you do them all at the same time.

  6. we were ran off the road because of a freaking idiot on a CELL phone not paying attention, she cut over into the side of our car shoving us into the HV lane and then kept driving like nothing happened. cell phones are like alkahol when driving, messes u up and your to stupid to figure that out.
