Norton products are terrible, in my opinion. For one, they don’t offer protection that you pay for, especially with Norton 360 2.0. Don’t expect this product to sustain your computer for more than two weeks. Sooner or later, you’ll notice that some of its functions have been deactivated, and even on an administrative account, you cannot reactive those settings. This, in my opinion, is nothing more than Norton employees compromising your computer purposely, to get you to purchase remote access service and assistance….oh, at about a cost of $53.00 on up. What a bunch of hog wash!
And to make things worse, canceling the automatic renewal is impossible. Once your computer has been infected, all of your archived emails get wiped out. This email contains the “Confirmation number” which apparently is required to cancel the automated renewal….on top of the registration code, the serial number, and the product key!
Your only solution is to cancel your credit card, and apply for a new account number.
Screw Norton! I’ll never waste my money on them again. They got me twice, and I promise it’ll never happen again!

P.S. Yes, I’m pissed as hell at them!

You deserved to get fleeced, all anti virus ’solutions’ are a scam and a huge waste on system resources and money, in terms of security I suggest a hardware firewall (usually included into routers) and to simply not be an idiot, you’ve failed the latter requirement already but as a pointer download from trusted sources (warez or not) and use firefox /w noscript/ adblock plus for browsing.

Norton (Symantec) is why I use AVG. It’s the best switch I ever made, now going on 4 years. Works so much better, and it’s free.
Norton Anti Virus withdrew almost $50.00 from my bank account without my permission! This has resulted in a $33.00 overdraft! I would never give anyone permission to deduct money from my account without talking to me first. Their customer service Reps have been rude to me. One guy hung up in my face. I promise, I will sue these people!

Bill,
I understand your frustration. I am preparing a class action suit against Symantec, Norton’s parent company for their auto renewal policies. Go to my firm site an contact me if you want to join. treulaw.com
