For the past two years, New York State Higher Education Services Corporation has been garnishing my wages for co-signing for a loan. This has caused me much grief. They have ruined my credit and have made it very difficult to keep certain bills current. I am a disabled veteran that has served my country honorably during the Vietnam War. My wife is retired and I can’t because of this garnishment.
These people are evil and only care about the bottom line. I have been trying to set up a reasonably payment plan with them, but it has been to no-avail. All they would say is that you have to pay X number of dollars to stop garnishment. That is easier said than done when you are barely paying your monthly bills on time. I am very angry about the way I have been treated by New York State Higher Education Services Corporation. I think that they abuse their power and that Congress or the Justice Department needs to investigate them because they are ruining many hard-working Americans lives.

Why did you co-sign if you couldn’t afford to pay off the loan? And what happened to the primary signer?

Pal, the problem was not paying off the loan, the problem was the payment should have been more reasonable. You sound just like the people from New York State Higher Education Service Corporation. I don’t expect you to understand!
Didn’t you go to court. You have to get a garnishment. You shouldhave negotiated a payment plan at the court hearing. Most judges and creditors are willing to work out a reasonable payment plan so long as your willing to pay. You should should ask the primary signer for help or even sue them to get help.
I feel for you creditors are Evil they prey on people with the law on thier side. You see the 700billion bailout now happening is all a part of this evil.

If your wages are being garnished, it means they waited almost a year before acting on their warnings. They gave chances and let you know your options. 25% hurts, don’t it?
Believe me, I know.
