This is a picture of my bag of adapters. This bag contains adapters and power supplies (generalizing as the term “adapters”) for which I have either
- Lost the device the adapter powers and think I might find the device someday, or
- Don’t know which device the adapter powers but might figure it out later
Apple nuts will notice there are no Apple adapters, cords or power supplies in this bag. That’s because Apple clearly identifies their adapters, cords and power supplies both with a unique color (white) and the Apple logo.
And that’s exactly my biggest complaint about the adapters and power supplies, companies rarely put their name or the name of the product on the adapters and then I end up with this bag of adapters. I want to see companies start labeling their adapters and power supplies more prominently so that I can figure out what goes with what more easily.

I label my adaptors with a plastic tag on the cord, like a keychain tag. But I agree that adaptors are a nuisance. Someone should develop a multi-tap multi-voltage adaptor so that I don’t need a dozen transformers plugged in around my desk. Hmm. I think I’ll make my own complaint about this… [here]
