I can eat a burrito with the best of them. And while I certainly don’t think Moe’s Southwest Grill has the best (or even authentic) burritos, I really do like them.
My biggest complaint about Moe’s is that the employees are (clearly) forced to shout, “Welcome to Moe’s,” every time a customer walks in the door. It’s annoying, dysfunctional, and ill-conceived by Moe’s management. And ultimately, it encourages drug use among the employees. I know that if I had to scream that thousands of times a day, I would be hitting the wacky weed at work.

Yeah I agree, I don’t know moes at all but I do know the concept you are talking about. It seems that someone somewhere got confused when they were told they need to great and treat their customers. This certainly does not mean an artifical robotic programed Hi or Hello shouted across the store. This really means to take a genuine interest in your customers their lives their wants needs and desires and to relate to them based on their wants needs and desires, and a canned shouted hello across the store floor certainly does not address any want need or desire I have.

Them: “Hi. Welcome to CiCi’s!”
Me: “Hi. Clean the place up instead of yelling at me.”
I was in Moe’s today and the employee’s were completely disheartened. I think screaming the “welcome to moe’s” slogan sucked every bit of life out of them.
Do any of you losers get a welcome to McDonald’s, wendys, hardys, taco bell, baja fresh, chipotle, subway, Don pablos, shoot even Applebees, olive garden, long horn or any other restaurant out there? Please realize the greeting is something you DON”T GET OUT THERE….it’s not a requirement to greet customers(unfortunately), and you should appreciate it when it does happen.
Ok, so on occasion you DO get a hi, how you doing today? How many in your party? Smoking or not? But it’s not because anybody wants to greet you but because THEY ARE PAID TO BE HOSTESSES! THEIR ONLY DUTY IS TO TAG THE PEOPLE WALKING IN.
For the love of God, appreciate when someone “multitasks” and greets you while rolling someone elses food.
