Ok, I admit, I’m a bit of a speed demon when it comes to driving… I’ve lived in much larger metro areas like Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas where you pretty much have to keep up with traffic or get run off the road.
The problem with Memphis drivers, they never bother to use signals, they don’t know how to merge worth a damn, and they won’t pass an accident without stopping to look. Another thing, it starts to drizzle, people think there’s a foot of snow falling and drive like even bigger fools… There are 3 major areas of congestion in the city, and its not because of the volume of traffic, its because the people just don’t pay attention to what’s going in front of them, beside them, or behind them. These areas have been widened/expanded for the “volume” of traffic, but it just caused more confusion and stupidity giving them that “oh, i’ve got another lane, I can hang out here and push my way in at the last moment…”
Don’t get me started on the cellphone while driving issue, that’s a whole other post. The people in Memphis just don’t realize that when you get in the driver’s seat and turn that key, you just started something that can become a lethal weapon if you don’t have 100% control over it AND your wits about you while doing it.
