My Biggest Complaint About J&R Pawn Shop

I cannot tell someone when and where to shop. I can simply tell of the experience that we have had with this pawn shop.

My first experience with this pawn shop was December 2008. I went in to buy a digital camera for a X-mas gift. Christmas Day the camera would not work. I went back into the pawn shop to exchange it for one that did. When I went back into the shop, they told me that the camera was not bought there. They went on to tell me that they had never sold a camera with that serial number. They refused to exchange or refund the camera although it never had worked. I went back to the Pawn Shop the next day and was told that I may have picked up the wrong camera. After 45 minutes of going back and forth. They finally exchanged the camera.

The second experience that I had with this pawn shop was when my son had decided that he wanted a bike and had gone to this pawn shop. I did not know that he had gone to J&R Pawn shop. He bought a bike there. When he got home he was pushing the bike. He put the bike in his room and went to another pawnshop and bought one for half the price that he paid for the other one and it works fine. He took the bike back to J&R in less than 24 hours. They refused to refund, credit or exchange the bike. They said it was damaged. My son came back home very upset and said that they had implied that he was a liar. At that time I personally called the pawnshop to ask how can a bike that my son purchased and used less than 10 minutes be so damaged that they refused a refund. I did not get anywhere with the call to the owner.

I am writing this to let people know of my personal experience with this company so that they can make an informed decision as to whether they would like to do businees with this company or not.
