Press one for English is absurd in a country where English is the main language, it should say instead ( in Spanish ) press one for Spanish. our own Government uses this greeting, call the I.R.S.number and hear for yourself. What is this Country coming to,my forefathers came from Europe, and they had to learn English to survive, but we cater to the Spanish people only, not any other nationality, why?? This is inexcusable!!!

It;s because our limp-wristed politicians refuse to do the will of the people, which is to declare English the official language of America. I speak English and Spanish. But I doubt I’d be offered “press 1″ in an Hispanic country.
America s to supposed to be a “melting pot.” However, many people refuse to become Americanized, which is why we face the expense of signs in different languages, instruction manuals printed in 3 or 4 languages (so much for not wasting paper), etc.
Most Latinos are proud of becoming Americanized and prefer speaking English. But there are people of all cultures who believe our values and laws don’t apply to them, so there you go.
