My Biggest Complaint About Inefficient/Wasteful People

Are people today really so ignorant and thoughtless that they still refuse to do what are possibly some of the easiest, most mindless tasks to save energy and reduce their waste? Why do people leave lights, or fans, or TVs, or ___ on when they’re not in the room? Why do people continue to throw bottles and cans in the trash? Why isn’t signing up for the local recycling program not a requirement for owning or renting a home? Why are people still even buying bottled water?

Listen, I’m not some hippy, treehugger who wears hemp and eats on vegetables all day, but it is soooo frustrating to watch the majority of people I interact with or observe on a daily basis completely disregard some of the easiest ways to both save money on your own energy costs, but also cut back on the waste we produce.

  1. It’s all in the way we were brought up. Life is disposable to most young folks today, Old, damaged, throw it out and get new stuff. Society has instilled these values in us.

  2. I think this is about to change.

  3. recycling will only be effective when a process is developed to sort out the trash, when we have the technology to place all the garbage in a vat and digest it into more basic components and then sort and reuse them then trash will finally stop being a problem. another big thing is computers, all of this technology is getting replaced so quick that ancient computers are piling up everywhere. what we really need to start doing is funding reasearch to solve these issues and many more, and stop wasting it on usueless things like not taxing churches and paying for the people who are just to lazy to work or are cheating the system in some way, stop being afraid to level taxes on those well to do rich guys and fortune 500 companies that hoarde all of our monitary resources. hell you want people to start recycling, start giving them a tax break based on the amount of stuff picked up by the recycler from their resedence, and start taxing a company who does not use recycled products when available

as far as energy conservation, if i pay for the power I can use it to power anything I like, until fusion power plants or some form of renewable power source replaces fossil fuels on producing the majority of our power there will always be an energy crisis now matter how much we try to conserve power just because people know that the supply is limited. it may be worth the extra few dollars to light that room so thugs dont think the house is empty, and not everybody is satisfied sitting in a stuffy house when they can afford to run their ac at a temp that is much more comfy

  4. Ash,

Firstly I must say you certainly do not understand how taxation and economics work. Your ideas of taxing taxing taxing will only result in the demise of wealth. When there are no more wealthy to tax you will not be able to tax the wealthy! Then your research funds dry up.

You will see once Obama is elected and he conducts his spread the wealth plan how businesses go out left and right. They will no longer be able to afford to compete. The wealthy will leave or become poor. Do you know that there has recently been law passed which will confinscate 50% of your wealth if you leave the USA. That what i hear anyway I don’t have a referenc for that.

You see recycling can and will work only when it becomes economically practical. The way you speak about seperation of materials would imply you are the lazy one who is unwilling to seperate for recycling. When you have it in your hand is the best time to seperate it; as that way it only has to be handlesd once.

It will be a great project for future generation to mine the landfills to obtain resources.
