My Biggest Complaint About Hypocritical Gentlemen

Don’t tell me to be a gentleman if you yourself are not prepared to be a gentleman. Calling me out on not being a gentleman does not make you more of a gentleman than I am.

This is why I’m upset:
At work, seated at my computer. In the same work area as me are two women and a water cooler. The water cooler is empty. Not myself, nor the two women are interested in water. We are working.

In comes the obnoxious dude, the Hypocritical Gentleman. He walks past the water cooler, headed off somewhere. On his way back he stops by our work area and says, “Dan, why don’t you be a gentleman and refill the water cooler for these nice ladies instead of being lazy?”

WHAT THE FU**?!

It’s almost brilliant if it wasn’t so obviously uncalled for. He was blatantly throwing a task on me that nobody, but himself, wanted done. In addition, we all immediately noticed that he was just capable as me to refill this water cooler. Naturally I did not move a muscle. My immediate response to him was “What?! No.” But it truly irks me that someone would challenge my gentlemanliness. I’m sarcastic, goofy, and sometimes immature, but when it comes down to the crown, I am indeed a gentleman. Besides, most of these trick hoes wouldn’t know a gentleman if he pooped in their pie. (see that was sarcasm)

So what did this guy have to gain by challenging me?

  • Free water cooler refill
  • Appear to be a more dominant male
  • Feel like he actually has authority at his job

I supposed some people just like to boss others around, and that’s all well and good.. if you’re their boss. But I can go tell this guy to jump in a lake if he ever tries to order me around. You want a water cooler refilled? Refill it. Don’t EVER challenge my confidence among my coworkers. I hate my job and I’m leaving, hopefully, soon. That means that I’m terribly at ease at my job and you can suck a fat one.

  1. As a “trick hoe”, I can tell you this looks just as bad from the fem side of things. The hypocritical gentleman that asks you to do the dirty work at the expense of a cheap shot looks like a lazy ass bully to me and my trick hoe sistas.
