My Biggest Complaint About Fireworks

I guess I’m getting old but fireworks hold no attraction for me at all and I almost dread the 4th of July and new years. In our neighborhood about 4 weeks before a holiday a store opens up and all the kids (and some adults) purchase thousands of fireworks. They run home and the crackle, and they pop, and they when and they whistle and on and on and on it goes. Then when that group of kids is done for the night someone else on the other side starts up and it pops, and it whistles and it whines and blows up real big. Just about the time I drift off - hear they go… they pop (not just a couple pops) about 80 or a hundred and they go on and on and on. Now I do understand the fascination they earn but how about some limits? Don’t just assume your neighbors don’t care. It drives some dogs crazy.

  1. True that. And I wish people would be considerate and knock off the whizz-bang at midnight. Not everyone is drunk and stupid, some of us have to get some sleep.

  2. So true. I often wonder how they would fee if when I got up at 6:00 a.m. I started shooting off fireworks by their doors??? Huh? Same thing…….

  3. Personally, I love fireworks. They’re awesome. They’re colourful, they make loud noises, they involve fire and they annoy the hell out of some people. There’s nothing to not like about them. Sure, you might have work to go to the next day, but will you see something as fantastic as a firework there? Of course you wont! (Unless you’re a fireworks tester, if such a position exists). Enjoy them while you can and don’t let yourself get old.
