My Biggest Complaint About E.D. Ads On Television

My biggest complaints about the E.D. ads are:

  1. They have saturated all the channels that I like to watch (I have to tivo everything on a half hour delay to skip all commercials).
  2. They are blatantly targeting people that don’t need the medicine and it’s obvious the drug companies know that their target audience is using the drug for recreational purposes
  3. The commercials are irritating, offensive, shoddily done, and embarrasing to my company.

It just seems that there is no accountability among the drug companies and they are taking full advantage of the lack of restrictions on the airways. For these reasons I feel that , , and are the absolute worst commercials I have ever seen on TV and by far the most prolific.

I just wish there was something that we the public could do to stop these irritating commercials.

Thanks, Ed (no pun intended). PS And if that isn’t bad enough, I have “ED” tattooed on my forearm (home made tattoo by my cousin when I was 13).

  1. Funny complaint.

  2. I find it really embarrassing when I have my 15 year old in the room. I have had to endure these commercials at a time in his life when he already feels inadequate since he is going through his normal changes and this really really send so many many wrong messages in a society driven by standards of unattainable perfection. If a person didn’t have ed, I imagine they would after being bombarded by so many of theses offensive ads. He usually laughs at them since 15 year olds have the opposite problem, but I hate them and we would rather they not be in our living room every 5 minutes.

  3. I am fed up with the ED ads. I really do NOT want to hear about men with flaccid penises nor how many hours they can last if they just take the drug manufacturer’s little miracle pill. Is there no one in control of what goes out on the airwaves? Or are they all men with ED? Likewise, I don’t want to see anymore ads for women’s feminine products, nor about the guy with herpes who ISN’T giving it to his girlfriend. Cripes, do we HAVE to share in each other’s sex lives just to watch some TV?

  4. I am a former Pfizer employee and agree 100% that the Viagra ads don’t need to run at 6 p.m. when my young daughters are watching TV. I recall that Pfizer first justified the Viagra ads by claiming erectile dysfunction was a serious medical condition that needed to be addressed. However now the commericials are absolutely about recreational sex and depict some bald headed guy picking up his wife on a motorcycle and driving to a hotel for sex. The ad states that Viagra brings “spice” to your sex life. It is simply disgusting! What happened to the serious medical message about ED? I guess Pfizer had to go after more customers as the ED market got more crowded. The good thing is that viagra will be generic soon and Pfizer won’t spend a single penny to promote it anymore. All of a sudden erectile dysfunction won’t be important to Pfizer anymore and they’ll start promoting some other product on TV. Let’s hope Levitra and Cialis will stop their spending war when Viagra vanishes from our TVs.

  5. It’s just the drug companies getting the word out about what’s available. Years ago there were no drug ads on t.v. that was the doctor’s job to research drugs. Pharmaceutical companies want YOU to request their drug so they get paid and who aint all about gettin a four hour boner!

  6. Everyone in the US knows about these drugs. I’m retired from a pharmaceutical company (not one of the 3 ED drug companies though) and this stuff still gets me sick.

VIVA Viagra–what trash! advertising!! They should have Mr. ED, the talking horse, from years ago, do a commercial. Ha Ha

One of the drug companies is working on a pre-mature ejaculation drug. Will they release that ad as a Super Bowl commercial?

Let them spend their millions of dollars on research. Some advertising is good but this is rediculous.

  7. I believe E.D. commercials are responsible for the increased number of sexual predator crimes! They are constant reminders to perverts and others who think they need sex right now, so they go on the prowl! All of them are irresponsible, causing more harm than good, and should be stopped!

  8. Most of us are paying to watch TV so why must we be tortured with commercials about E.D., and other most personal issues I’d rather not see on TV unless it’s an option–AND I OPT OUT. TV should set an example for being family friendly. And these commercials start earlier and earlier (8 pm I noticed tonight) when young children can watch TV too. More stations are picking up these commercials too.
I don’t need more shock either, like car wrecks in insurance commercials. I get the point. And who is in control of how many times the same commercial runs. I saw the same BoFlex commercial repeated over and over in the same hour to where I wanted to throw my TV set out the door for good. Is anyone listening out there?????????? Hello! Please clean up the commercials (really!) and have a plan to rotate them so you don’t make people absolutely sick of them, then you’ll bring back support from viewers like me.
