My Biggest Complaint About Delta Airlines Refundable Tickets

This morning I was going to book a June 2010 flight to London with Delta. After selecting flight # 1976 to Atlanta, flight #10 to London, and the return flights the next screen brought up the total fare for two passengers. Below the Total charges is ” View changes and cancellation policies”. Below this it says, ” This Ticket is REFUNDABLE. Fees may apply”. I called the reservation number to inquire about FEES. I was told this was a Non-Refundable ticket. I went back to WEB page, brought flights up again, and printed the Trip Summary page. Yes, it said, “REFUNDABLE”. I phoned back to speak to representative again, and Naomi said “Non-refundable”. She then connected me with a representative in the WEB section. I spoke with Paulette, and she also said the ticket was ‘Non-Refundable”. I asked why it was stated refundable on the WEB? Paulette brought up same flights, saw where it had refundable, and put me on hold to check on something. When she came back on line she said, “It is refundable within 24 hours”. I mentioned there was nothing about 24 hrs, when it states ‘ ticket is refundable’ one assumes it to be a refundable ticket. Yes, it says, ” fees may apply” and this is the reason I called. Paulette even mentioned she pulled up different flight schedules and none of those had ‘REFUNDABLE’ , and she did not know why this one did. I asked if Delta was going to honor this refundable ticket? Paulette said, “No, they will not”. What a shock to find out Delta is advertising falsely on the WEB and getting away with it. They will not honor their WEB page offer.
