My Biggest Complaint About Cut Your Mullet Salon

I went to this salon to try to get my hair colored for my wedding and this is the outcomes.

I went to him with a picture of Gisele Bunchen and asked him to color my hair the same way. I had virgin hair that had not been processed at all so I knew that he would be able to accomplish this look with no difficulty. He was obviously not listening when he only did platinum highlights and did not even change the base color. My base color is dark ash brown so the contrast between my base color and the highlights was huge. Everyone kept saying that I looked like Cruela DeVille from 101 Dalmatians. Not to mention that my hair was down to my waist and after I asked him to trim the ends and keep the same lenght, my hair was above my bra line.

He even charged me for a protein/glaze treatment that he did not provide me with. I asked him if he was going to dye my base color as I was not happy with the look and he said that all I had to do was use this purple shampoo to get the right look. This shampoo is supposed to take the brass color out of your hair but will NOT change the color of your hair. He should have dyed it to begin with.

I left feeling unhappy and embarassed for people to see me, and when I saw it in different lights, I hated it more and more. My hair looked like I had done it at home and not at a salon which charged me $130. I called him and told him that I was not happy and that I wanted him to fix it but he told me that his schedule was fully booked and could not squeeze me in. I then asked him for a refund but he denied my refund.

I wish stylists would stop what they are doing and begin to listen to their clients.

  1. Me and all of my friends have been going to Danny at Cut Your Mullet Salom for 10 years to get our hair done, and none of us have EVER had any problems at all with him. Danny has always gotten me the exact look I go in asking for, he has always explained every single thing he is going to do or will be doing in the future, and the one and only time my hair didn’t turn out the way I was expecting it to - he had no problem rearranging his schedule to accommodate me and make sure that I was completely satisfied.

Danny is and has always been completely and totally professional with me and everybody I know, and the only time I have ever witnessed him deny a service to somebody was when the person was making personal attacks against him and his character, and she was being unnecessarily rude.

  2. As a long time client and close personal friend of Danny’s, this complaint almost makes me laugh because it’s so ridiculous. I know exactly who submitted this complaint because I was in the salon that day getting MY hair done, and I can vouch that he explained to her that it would take 3 seperate appointments to get her hair from being as dark as it was to as light as she wanted it to go. As a woman who has been getting her hair colored and processed by Danny for years now, I can tell you that there was NOTHING virgin about this girl’s hair, and with regards to her claiming that he charged her for a protein glaze that she didn’t get - I saw her sitting under the dryer with the glaze on her hair with my own eyes. I also saw her smiling and saying “i love it” when she left the salon, so whatever changed between then and now has nothing to do with Danny or his work on her hair.

If you’re going to complain about someone, you should really get your facts straight.

  3. As the business owner at Cut Your Mullet Salon and after reading this statement, I obviously feel the need to defend myself and my business. There are several statements that have been made in this complaint that I would like to clarify:

    1) First and foremost, I explained to the client on more than one occasion that it would take 3 separate appointments to get her hair from the dark ash brown color which she openly admitted she had colored herself (which completely falsifies her claim of having “virgin hair”) and that if I were to bleach it all out in one sitting it would damage her hair.

    2) “I went to him with a picture of Gisele Bunchen and asked him to color my hair the same way”
    - During our initial conversation and at the beginning of her appointment, the client showed me a completely different picture showing a completely different hair color/style. AFTER I had already finished the appointment, the client then presented me with the Gisele Bundchen picture.

    3) “my hair was down to my waist and after I asked him to trim the ends and keep the same lenght, my hair was above my bra line.”
    - Because I myself gave this client her previous haircut, I know for a fact that her hair was nowhere near her waist when she arrived and was at least 2-3 inches lower than her bra line when she left my salon.

    4) “I called him and told him that I was not happy and that I wanted him to fix it but he told me that his schedule was fully booked and could not squeeze me in”
    - I never received a phone call from this client after she left. I did however receive several extremely disrespectful and offensive text messages making personal attacks against me and my business which is why I was not willing to rearrange my entire Saturday schedule (which had been booked a year in advance for a 18 person wedding party) in order to accommodate her.

    5) “He even charged me for a protein/glaze treatment that he did not provide me with”
    - There is absolutely no truth to this statement. She had her hair up in a plastic bag sitting on the couch in my salon for 15-20 minutes with the treatment in her hair, and I explained exactly what it was while I was applying it.

    6) ” I then asked him for a refund but he denied my refund.”
    - I do not offer refunds, and that policy is clearly stated and displayed on the wall in the waiting area. I don’t know of any other business where a customer can go in, get their money back, and leave without returning the product or service that was rendered at the time of payment

    7) ” I wish stylists would stop what they are doing and begin to listen to their clients. ”
    - I listened and understood everything that was discussed with this client, and in turn I explained everything in complete detail with regards to what results she could expect after each one of the 3 separate appointments that we had agreed upon. Stylists such as myself wish clients like this one would start listening to the educated, experienced professionals who are clearly answering the questions they are being asked.

I am in no way trying to slander the creator of this complaint, and I fully understand that everyone has the right to their own opinions. I DO however feel the need to protect my business and my own reputation by explaining the truth in the situation - a truth which can be verified by the 4-5 other people that were present in the salon during this appointment.

  4. Get that nasty mullet off your head, you don’t look good with it.
