I’ve got one regret. That’s that I complained more than I should. Far too often, someone, just trying to do their best, overhears a comment I’ve made. Often something that really can’t be corrected. Likely about something that, in the grand scheme of things, was not even worth the energy it took to remember, let alone remark on. Someone will be hurt by my complaint because they are part of the cause, or sympathize, are acquainted or related to those ones who are. They’re hurt, belittled or frustrated, when I had no intention of causing grief of any kind. I’ve injured more people by needless complaining than anyone ever has the right to.
When I take a stand, and I often do, I make sure it is in an appropriate environment where it has the potential to be effective. Life is too short to spend it attacking blindly, adding to the grief, pain and frustration. I try to complain only about things that really deserve it. Things like “repression”, “hunger”, “hate”, “despair”, and “injustice”.
If you need to complain, this website would be a good place to do it.
But do it anonymously. Even here, think twice before you post. And do it only once. People who are complaining too much, are likely loosing friends and respect at the same time.
