My grand daughter is ten,she came to live with me this fall,she loves webkinz,I allowed her to play online more than I should have, I had no idea what the site was doing to her..But if told her it was quiting time,she would cry and complain.Then she got to the point of begging with alligator tears for the newest pet, then came ganz e store,she wants points every week,any money she gets ,she wants me to buy more points.Her mind is constantly on webkinz.She is failing in school,But she does not care,she has even got onto webkinz on the schools computer.Just last night 12-14-09 she went on e-Bay and bought a webkinz on my account. She then went into my paypal(I didn,t know she knew my password) paid for the webkinz.Then trashed all the e-mails to confirm the purchase and confim the paypal payment..I blame Ganz for turning her into a theif,I blame ganz for creating a for profit website designed to make children have to have right now every item they are selling,they give deadlines,they have something new “have to have limited editions several times a week.My grand daughter will not even go to the bathroom until she”s about to pop. She would gulp her food at dinner,just so she could get back on webkinz.I had to make a dinner rule . I blame ganz for creating this addiction. Now I am faced with her webkinz withdrawal.And possibly counselling. Webkinz should be held accountable for this child and your’s if you can relate to what I”m dealing with.

Please, how can you blame webkinz for your grandaughter’s addiction? My daughter is 9, comes home from school does all her homework and has to be checked by me before going on webkinz. If homework is not up to my standards, she does not go on. I also monitor her computer time, I also have her in other activities so she is not always wanting webkinz. You are responsible for her addiction. Take it away, put her in other activities, if you continue to allow it then you are responsible. NOT WEBKINZ. Yes, their are other people like you, but they too are allowing it and that is why their kids are the way they are.

I agree with you!! The E Store has points you can buy to buy items, sold in 10.00 increments that equal 10000 points, however most great items are 12,500 points, forcing you to have to spend 20.00 to get the item, with many leftovers. The Deluxe membership, the pets, exclusives, online pets, it is CRAZY. My daughter does dance 2 days a week, riding lessons, and many other activities, but she is majorly addicted!! she will spend every free moment she can on it, and will get angry if people try to interact with her when shes into it, instead of having fun, she trades and looks for more items to buy. (Hurry up! Going Soon!) My husband and I look at it very much like and addiction.

I am only 12 and started collecting when i was 9, i did have a small addiction and still do but i ussaly play and train my petswhen i’m not on WW. Right now, i’m cleaning the house for my grandma to find spare change i may have dropped around to cash in to put points on that way, i”ll have enough when the Seaspray Dolphin comes out in the ganz estore.
