My Biggest Complaint About Centereach Long Island Auto Zone

I arrived at Auto Zone at 8:30 this morning looking for a master cylinder. For starts the whole store smelt like cigarette smoke, Then a guy name Vin or vince comes up looks up the part and tells me he cant get it for 3-4 days. So I asked if he can look up the surrounding auto zones to see if they have them in stock. He guarantees me that no one on the island has one. since I have no brakes I decided to call another parts place before i place the order. Just as I turn my back towards the door. You can hear the manager GARY and VIN talking all types of junk. On how I’m so cheap, and rude. I’m sorry last i checked rude is talking behind someones back. so i confronted them and said you Know this building echoes right! The manager responds with are you gonna order the part or not. I lost it. I have been shopping at this auto zone for over 5 years. Ever since this new manager arrived there’s been nothing in stock and rude employees. I will NEVER shop at that Auto zone again as long Gary Is working there! To add icing to the cake, I called the Auto Zone in Selden( about 5 mins away) Told him the same information. I need a master cylinder …… He tells me to come back in 3 hours he’ll have the paret I need. This gentleman’s name was Scott and i highly recommend him. Now I am aware that Scott had the same info at his fingertips than that rude prick Vin. See what a difference a manager makes. With the way the economy is going youd think they want to keep every customer they can. That apparently is not the case for the Centerach Auto Zone. So GARY and VIN…….. **** YOU

  2. ok, I was in the store when this happened. I was shopping for paints.
    Anyway, Vince was nice to you, and told you, no other Autozone on the island had it. Which was true. It was not in the listings, i asked. You called another Autoparts store while walking around their store, thats rude. Yelling on your phone, that these autozone people are Aholes for not having your part. The store manager was not disrespectful at all. You just had a bug up your butt. That store, with that manager is the reason i shop there, send all my customers there, and always hear the great things they do. Next time, you disrespect that store, i will disrespect your face, you lying little ****.

  3. I cannot believe how ironic both the timing and my experience today was. First let me tell you my story. I have a 1999 Ford Expedition. My vehicle had an intermittent misfire which seemed to be getting progressively worse. I took it to a repair shop close to my home, ( in Centereach NY ). I was charged $105 dollars for a diagnosis, and was then told my “coil packs” were bad, I asked “which ones?” and was told it didn’t matter I should change them all. I asked “how much would the job cost?” and was told approximately $445 dollars (that’s parts and labor). I didn’t believe all could have gone bad at once and decided to see if I could do the job myself. Here’s where the story gets good! I went online to price the parts and wound up on Autozones web site. The coil packs if sold individually (which they were) are $48.99. The site then proceeded to give me the closest store location, which happened to be at Centereach. I then decided to do some research. I felt that I could not trust anyone in the automotive repair or parts business. That’s when I saw your comment. Being that this particular Autozone was the closest I was still weary of going there, because of the comments on this site. I figured if I was mistreated, abused, been talked to in a rude manner I have the choice to go to another parts store. Here’s the irony!! The very people you mention in your comments were there! I walked through the door and no more then two feet in was greeted by Gary, the store manager. he asked me if he could help me and I proceeded to tell him that I needed “coil packs ” for my Expedition. He asked me “why do you need all of them, is your truck running that bad?” I said “no, but a repair shop told me I should replace them all at once”. Gary told me that didn’t sound right and asked if he could do a “code retrieval”. It turned out that a code did come up on their computer, which said “cylinder 4 misfire”, Gary then proceeded to tell me to exchange the number 4 coil pack with another, (and showed me how to do it, actually it’s very simple”. He said if a different cylinder misfire code comes up we then know that the original coil pack was bad. Guess what, he was right!! He also told me I should replace that particular cylinder spark plug as it might tend to be “gas Fouled”. I could not have been anymore surprised and confused as to where your comments came from as that was the exact opposite of my experience. The store managers honesty and training saved me alot of money!! I would recommend that particular store to anyone. I guess it just proves that no matter who you are, the customer or employee, people are people, all attitudes and experiences are different. I feel too many negative things being said and not enough positive ones are not really constructive. In this case my experience was not only a positive one, but really saved me alot, Alot of money!!!!!!!!

  4. first off let me tell you gary is a great manager. him and all of his employees help me every time i come in there. which is often. i have never had a bad experience in that store.
    actually its quite funny b.c i always went to the selden store but sometimes they didnt have my parts so i went to the centereach store and there was gary. he helped me right away gave me alot of usefull tips to help me fix the problems in my car.
    i think that that store is one of the best around.
    they have great people working there. great help. i wont change stores unless for some odd reason the whole crew that works there gets fire.
    so for YOU YOU LITTLE F***ING PRICK WHO WROTE THIS ABOUT THEM. YOU SUCK. AND YOU CAN GO F**K YOURSELF.

  5. You know, I’m not the greatest of people with the auto industry. I’m actually horrible with it. I have absolutely not clue what I’m doing half the time. I honestly don’t know what your saying when your talking about the Centereach AutoZone. Every time I go in there looking for some help, I get it, especially with a friendly smile and great customer service. When I do need to go there, they always offer to come outside and give me a hand, especially Gary, who I know is the store manager. I’ve been going there for a very long time now, and as a middle aged woman I like to be treated nicely. When the other 3 store managers were there, they never offered to help me at all. I was told they weren’t aloud to install anything or come outside. They were always rude and nasty to me. The new crew that is there at AutoZone is very helpful and is always willing to give a hand with anything I need. When they don’t have a part in stock, and Selden does, I ask them if they could get it from them or another store. I know for a fact that Selden is worse then Centereach. When I go to Selden, I get treated like ****.They competitive stores, and Centereach works hard. I give them all the credit. Now you may say that since Gary has been there, the store is worse, but I will tell you this, the store looks great, and they have the best prices, and their people are amazing. I always have, and always will go to the Centereach AutoZone as long as Gary is there. He is the best store manager I have seen in years for that store.

  6. i have bought parts in the centereach store and everyone has been helpful there especially the mgr dave. so anyone who writes negative comments about this one store is either fabricating it [in my opinion] or this was 1 isplated incident. i will continue to buy parts from them and have always been very happy with their service
