My Biggest Complaint About Being Wrongfully Accused Of Stealing

My fourteen year old son and I decided to stop at the 7-eleven located at 12009 Laurel Bowie Rd., Laurel, MD 20708. We went to the candy section and got in line after we picked out what we wanted. Just before our turn I took the Kit Kat that my son had and placed it on the counter with what I had.

The girl that was at the register rung it all up and I gave her a twenty to pay for it. It cost $5.26 all together. I took our things and thanked her. As we were walking out the door I heared her say “Excuse me.” We walked back inside and the line of customers were all looking at us. She reached out her hand towards my sons direction. I thought maybe she rung up the candy bar twice or something. I handed it to her and she took the candy and sat it down behind the counter and stated ringing up the next person. I told her that I paid for that and she told me that I didn’t. I then showed her what I had in my hands and told her that what I had alone didn’t come to five dollars plus change.

At this point I was heated. I felt like she was calling me a liar. She decided to pull up the receipt from the register and it showed that the candy was paid for . After that she just handed me the candy and the receipt. No apology was given. I pay for everything I get. And I teach my childern to do so as well. I believe that the situation should have and could have been handled much better. She could have pulled up the receipt before stopping us, because you know that 7-eleven is good for not giving you the receipt. She was in the wrong and should have checked herself before causing that scene..

  1. I had a sort of similar thing happen to me many years ago. I went to the gas station got gas (at the time it would have been like $10 to fill my car). I went in to pay (no pay at the pump at this time) and bought a candy bar and soda or something. Went to the counter (had on a company uniform with my name on it) got to talking to the clerk a bit and handed him a tweenty, which should have covered the full purchase gas and all. The clerk neglected to take the gas out of the bill and I never even noticed (he handed me change). about an hour latter I got a call at work from him asking me to come back and pay for the gasoline. He also informed me that he had sent the sheriff after me. I latter got a visit from the sheriff for his mistake.

  2. Cashiers are only watching one thing, the clock and quitting time. I recently had to call for a manager b/c the checker in my local grocery was talking on her personal cell phone while I waited to check out. Needless to say I don’t shop there anymore. They could care less.
