I am a former bathroom attendant and in my defense, I have to say that I have never handed a towel. However, I did restock the bathrooms with supplies constantly and also constantly had to pick up and flush after inebriated and/or lazy people. This establishment is a five star restaurant. You would be astonished at the habits of some of these " highbrow " patrons. Not to mention the rudeness. Also, because of these uncontrollable externals, this was a very challenging job. People fail to realize that bathroom attendants are most of the time cleaning staff as well.

Hello Mark:

I charge a flat rate or tips depending on the event. If its a night club, then its tips. The most that I have made in combination with my husband was $650 and that was New Years Eve. On average its about $100-150 a night but it also depends on which nights you work. If its a prom or a wedding, I charge a flat rate so the guests are taken care of but they do not have to tip. I have never gotten close to $1200 but I am not saying it cannot happen. It also depends on the venue and the clients. If you are at an upscale club, then you will make that much. If you are working an event with a lot of celebrities you can make that much or even more.

Hello DBlock:

I really do not understand why you are being so negative about something that someone does to earn a living. In addition to running my own attendant business, I also work full time as a Finance Advisor, I have a degree, and I am also going to school to work on another one. No matter what the job is, if its your own business, then its just as good as anyone else's.

I took on a bathroom job part time because I needed extra money. Not because I do not want to try harder at life. I support my husband and my two kids all by myself. Furthermore, we are not just there to hand you a paper towel or "watch you pee". We are there to provide things to freshen up with. I have went out to the club or bar serveral times and wished there was a person in the restroom who could sell me some gum or cigarettes because I left my purse in the car. I also know that some clubs prefer an attendant in the restroom to look after guests. People sometimes drink too much and their friends are not always with them to make sure they are ok. Fights sometimes happen in the restroom also. How many times have you gone into a restroom at a club and there was no more toilet paper? Bathroom attendants keep the area clean, they keep the napkins stocked, they help guests and customers, they provide a little bit of additional securty, they have emergency items that you would not have with you. It sounds to me like your complaints are just you being a hater because you are too cheap to tip. I feel sorry for who ever serves you in a restaurant. You probably think you are more than capable of getting your own food out of the kitchen as well.

Blah blah blah...so what, I'm a bathroom attendant, and of all places I work in Las Vegas. While your drunk ass is in there whinning...I'm making on average $1200.00 each night I choose to hand you a mint and a piece of paper. It's called a hustle. What you fail to realize is the drunker your ass gets, the more you tend to tip me... especially when I work the VIP bathroom of an upscale Las Vegas hot spot, and watch suckers throw me a C-note for making them feel important. Sorry my friend, but its DIRTY WORK and CLEAN CASH...literally, since I get it after they've washed their hands. Oh, did I mention that its tax-free too????

I feel (have felt) totally sorry for anyone who has to make their living doing this. As you described it perfectly, the sounds of grunting and flushing all day long must be miserable. And for what? So a towel can be handed to you? It makes no sense whatsoever.
