My Biggest Complaint About Bank of America World Points Credit Card

I have had my Bank of America Credit card since 2001. I have never redeemed any points. I got married last year and made many of my purchases using my B of A card. Last year my credit card was due to expire in August. In April 2009, they send me my new renewal card. When it arrived it was no longer the platinum card with my professional logo on it. When I called B of A, the customer service guy told me he would “fix” the problem and re-issue my old card. The following month I received a new platinum card, minus the word “Word Points” on it. When I called to inquire about it, the gal told me that there was no longer a card like that available and more of consequence…WHEN YOU SWITCH A TYPE OF CREDIT CARD, YOU FORFEIT ANY POINTS.” She explained that customer service reps are supposed to inform you of this. As you can imagine, I was very upset and tried my best not to scream, “Would you forfeit 55, 000 points?” To make a long story short I had to spend countless hours, countless phone calls, speaking to countless number of reps and even managers. It seriously took me almost a year to get all my points back. This whole ordeal has me now wanting to cash in on my points and stop using their card. My fear is that there will be some kind of problem doing redeeming points. People who have points, hold them dear and watch for any changes customer service reps may want to do. I don’t want anyone to have to go through what I did What a waste of tears and energy they caused me!
