I’ve seen this post about not bagging things that need to be bagged at the grocery store and I agree with it 100%. Give me a bag for my milk. Give me a bag for everything that needs a bag, don’t cheap out on the bags.
However, don’t go to the other extreme and go bag wild on me either. I just got back from the grocery store and I have about 50 plastic grocery bags for about 60 items. Spaghetti sauce in this bag, alone. Bananas in this bag, alone. Cereal in this bag… you get the idea.
Something is wrong when you go to one store and they don’t want to give you a bag for your milk and then you go to another and it’s like they are trying to get rid of every bag in the store. Right now. All on your order.
My biggest complaint about it is that this isn’t that complicated. We’re talking about bagging groceries. They don’t put milk in a bag unless you ask them to at one place and the next place is double and triple bagging single items.

Shop at Winco. You can bag everything yourself. Kind of a pain but at least it is done the way you want it.

Thats why I ask the customer if they would like a bag for some items. Plus we have small bags for individual items that cant go together. (like an order thats just chicken, grapes, and can of soup) You wouldnt bag those together!

Bring your own re-usable bag and bag your own stuff.
Jesus lady, bag your own groceries then. It’s not like these cashiers are getting paid a fortune. It’s hard enough just to get someone to show up that won’t steal.

I think that every store should charge for each bag, or make you bring your own bag.
also, people do NOT need bags for jugs of milk.

I work at a grocery store! Maybe you think it isn’t complicated but customers make it so. Some customers want jugs of milk in a bag, some don’t like using an extra bag for this item. it is a customer’s preference and we try to accomodate everyone’s wishes. Personally, I wonder why someone needs a bag for something that already has a handle? Arent we trying to conserve resources?
