My Biggest Complaint About Apologizing for Cross Posting

My biggest complaint is about people who start their emails to the listserv apologizing for cross posting.

Some of you might think my complaint is about them actually cross posting, but it’s NOT. If you want to post the same email to two completely separate listservs, it is not in poor form. I mean they are two separate groups, the fact that some people join both listservs is their problem, not you as the poster (the key point is that these are distinct listservs and your not sending spam - which is a whole different issue). If I join two listservs I expect to get some overlapping mail (if the listservs deal with somewhat similar subjects, for example - warmongers@listserv… and georgebush@listserv…… get the idea). If you apologize for cross posting you are essentially presuming that both groups have identical memberships, AND if this is the case both listservs should get together an merge into one. Just stop being so damn apologetic for posting your email already and cross post away.

Now, I will say that posting the same thing in multiple forums (especially forums that are support or help based forums) on the same site is simply unacceptable. You should not only be apologetic for that, but you should be banned for it.
