My Biggest Complaint About 100,000 Chinese People Dying in Workplace Accidents in China

Reuters reported that 100,000 people DIED in workplace accidents in China IN ONE YEAR (2007), which was confirmed by some branch of the government in China.

My biggest complaint is that the Chinese have such shoddy, non-existent, safety practices for so many workers. This is simply unacceptable. My next biggest complaint it that the average American (and EU citizen) will never see the connection between the prices we pay for Chinese goods in the United States and the working conditions under which those goods are made in China. If you wonder why we are losing jobs to foreign countries, much of it has to do with the conditions and pay that those workers are receiving in those countries. On the consumerism end, of course we all want to have access to the least expensive products, but, in my opinion, many Americans are not willing to accept that this helps fuel the problem. There is a reason why the cheap Chinese crap that lines the shelves of Wal-Mart is cheap.

Could you imagine if 100,000 US workers died in one year? There would be a revolution.

  1. China = Capitalism Without Democracy. Something our own leaders, save for Ron Paul, would love to see here as well.

  2. As horrible as it may seem how true it is. The high price of american products are in a large part related to this all the regulation that american companies have to abide by and the outrageous insurance costs to them. while some regulation is good we are very well overregulated and it is costing us our freedom, our jobs, and ther very lifestyle we are accustom to.

The bigger complaint about china is how they are shoving their “unregulated” products over to us and harming our people when we take every step to prevent these harms with our overregulation.

Take a look at this website about thongs made in china and bought at wal-mart. http://www.lamanaphotography.com/walmart6.htm. This is the real tragedy.

  3. Several hundred thousand people die in the US every years due to doctor’s error, yet nothing is said and the public is unaware.

  4. @Fred: Proof?

  5. Fred,

I’d also like to see some proof (legitimate sources only, blogs don’t count) that 100k Americans are dying every year from doctor’s errors.

Until then, I am going to put forth that your comment above is bunk.
